2773 ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਫੇਰੁ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

सतिगुरि

मिलिऐ फेरु न पवै जनम मरण दुखु जाइ ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ

ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਚਰਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meeting with the True Guru, you shall not have to go through the cycle of reincarnation again; the pains of birth and death will be taken away.

2774 ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥

सबदि सभ सोझी होई हरि नामै रहै समाइ ॥१॥

ਪੂਰੇ

ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਰੁਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, all understanding is obtained; remain absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||

2775 ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

O my mind, focus your consciousness on the True Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਣਾ ॥

Har Jeeo Raakhahu Apunee Saranaaee Jio Raakhehi Thio Rehanaa ||

हरि

जीउ राखहु अपुनी सरणाई जिउ राखहि तिउ रहणा ॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ

ਜੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਰੱਖੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੱਣਾ ਹੈ।
O Dear Lord, please protect and preserve me in Your Sanctuary. As You keep me, so do I remain.

2778 ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੨॥

Gur Kai Sabadh Jeevath Marai Guramukh Bhavajal Tharanaa ||2||

गुर

कै सबदि जीवतु मरै गुरमुखि भवजलु तरणा ॥२॥

ਗੁਰੂ

ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋ ਟੁੱਟਕੇ ਮੱਮਤਾ ਵੱਲੋ ਮਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਮਖਿ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ। ||2||

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Gurmukh remains dead while yet alive, and swims across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||

2779 ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥

Vaddai Bhaag Naao Paaeeai Guramath Sabadh Suhaaee ||

वडै

भागि नाउ पाईऐ गुरमति सबदि सुहाई ॥

ਚੰਗੇ

ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਪਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੁੰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੱਦਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
By great good fortune, the Name is obtained. Following the Guru's Teachings, through the Shabad, you shall be exalted.

2780 ਆਪੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥

Aapae Man Vasiaa Prabh Karathaa Sehajae Rehiaa Samaaee ||3||

आपे

मनि वसिआ प्रभु करता सहजे रहिआ समाई ॥३॥

ਰੱਬ

ਆਪੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਭਗਵਾਨ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੈ। ||3||

God, the Creator Himself, dwells within the mind; remain absorbed in the state of intuitive balance. ||3||

2781 ਇਕਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਇਆ ॥

Eikanaa Manamukh Sabadh N Bhaavai Bandhhan Bandhh Bhavaaeiaa ||

इकना

मनमुखि सबदु न भावै बंधनि बंधि भवाइआ ॥

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ-ਮਨਮੱਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ

ਨੂੰ ਸਂਬਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਔੜਦਾ। ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Some are self-willed manmukhs; they do not love the Word of the Shabad. Bound in chains, they wander lost in reincarnation.

2782 ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥

Lakh Chouraaseeh Fir Fir Aavai Birathhaa Janam Gavaaeiaa ||4||

लख

चउरासीह फिरि फिरि आवै बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥४॥

ਜੀਵ ਜਲ-ਥਲ ਤੇ, ਚਰਾਸੀ

ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੁੰਮ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਬੇਕਾਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਉਣਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ||4||

Through 8.4 million lifetimes, they wander over and over again; they waste away their lives in vain. ||4||

2783 ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

भगता

मनि आनंदु है सचै सबदि रंगि राते ॥

ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹਨ। ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਖ ਹੈ।
In the minds of the devotees there is bliss; they are attuned to the Love of the True Word of the Shabad.

2784 ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਦ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਤੇ ॥੫॥

Anadhin Gun Gaavehi Sadh Niramal Sehajae Naam Samaathae ||5||

अनदिनु

गुण गावहि सद निरमल सहजे नामि समाते ॥५॥

ਹਰ

ਸਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਦਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ||5||

Night and day, they constantly sing the Glories of the Immaculate Lord; with intuitive ease, they are absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||5||

2785 ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਭ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੀ ॥

Guramukh Anmrith Baanee Bolehi Sabh Aatham Raam Pashhaanee ||

गुरमुखि

अम्रित बाणी बोलहि सभ आतम रामु पछाणी ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ

ਮਿੱਠੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs speak the Ambrosial Bani; they recognize the Lord, the Supreme Soul in all.

2786 ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥੬॥

Eaeko Saevan Eaek Araadhhehi Guramukh Akathh Kehaanee ||6||

एको

सेवनि एकु अराधहि गुरमुखि अकथ कहाणी ॥६॥

ਇੱਕ

ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇੱਕ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਕਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ||6||

They serve the One; they worship and adore the One. The Gurmukhs speak the Unspoken Speech. ||6||

2787 ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥

Sachaa Saahib Saeveeai Guramukh Vasai Man Aae ||

सचा

साहिबु सेवीऐ गुरमुखि वसै मनि आइ ॥

ਸੱਚੇ

ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀਏ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs serve their True Lord and Master, who comes to dwell in the mind.

2788 ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚ ਸਿਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੭॥

Sadhaa Rang Raathae Sach Sio Apunee Kirapaa Karae Milaae ||7||

सदा

रंगि राते सच सिउ अपुनी किरपा करे मिलाइ ॥७॥

ਹਰ

ਸਮੇਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਸਤ ਹਨ। ਆਪਨੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ||7||

They are forever attuned to the Love of the True One, who bestows His Mercy and unites them with Himself. ||7||

2789 ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਇਕਨਾ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਜਗਾਇ ॥

Aapae Karae Karaaeae Aapae Eikanaa Suthiaa Dhaee Jagaae ||

आपे

करे कराए आपे इकना सुतिआ देइ जगाइ ॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself does, and He Himself causes others to do; He wakes some from their sleep.

2790 ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੭॥੨੪॥

Aapae Mael Milaaeidhaa Naanak Sabadh Samaae ||8||7||24||

आपे

मेलि मिलाइदा नानक सबदि समाइ ॥८॥७॥२४॥

ਭਗਵਾਨ

ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਂਮ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗ ਲੈਂਦਾ। ||8||7||24||

He Himself unites us in Union; Nanak is absorbed in the Shabad. ||8||7||24||

सतिगुरि

सेविऐ मनु निरमला भए पवितु सरीर ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪਿਆਂ, ਮਨ-ਆਤਮਾਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ

ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਰੀਰ ਵੀ ਵਿਕਾ੍ਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਚ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate, and the body becomes pure.

ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ॥

Man Aanandh Sadhaa Sukh Paaeiaa Bhaettiaa Gehir Ganbheer ||

मनि

आनंदु सदा सुखु पाइआ भेटिआ गहिर ग्मभीरु ॥

ਆਤਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਸੁੱਖ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The mind obtains bliss and eternal peace, meeting with the Deep and Profound Lord.

ਸਚੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੈਸਣਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰ ॥੧॥

सची

संगति बैसणा सचि नामि मनु धीर ॥१॥

ਸਹੀ, ਸੱਚੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ-ਬਹਿਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Sitting in the Sangat, the True Congregation, the mind is comforted and consoled by the True Name. ||1||

2795 ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਿਸੰਗੁ ॥

रे सतिगुरु सेवि निसंगु ॥

ਹੇ ਮਨ ਸੱਤ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਂ ਮੰਨ।

O mind, serve the True Guru without hesitation.

ਸਤਿਗਰੁ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ

Serving the True Guru, the Lord abides within the mind, and no trace of filth shall attach itself to you. ||1||Pause||

ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

Sachai Sabadh Path Oopajai Sachae Sachaa Naao ||

सचै

सबदि पति ऊपजै सचे सचा नाउ ॥

ਸਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਸੱਚਾ-ਸੂਚਾ ਹੈ।

From the True Word of the Shabad comes honor. True is the Name of the True One.

ਜਿਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

Jinee Houmai Maar Pashhaaniaa Ho Thin Balihaarai Jaao ||

जिनी

हउमै मारि पछाणिआ हउ तिन बलिहारै जाउ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ, ਮੈਂ-ਮੇਰੀ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।ਮੈ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਦਕੇ-ਵਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I am a sacrifice to those who conquer their ego and recognize the Lord.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥

Manamukh Sach N Jaananee Thin Thour N Kathehoo Thhaao ||2||

मनमुख

सचु न जाणनी तिन ठउर न कतहू थाउ ॥२॥

ਮਨ-ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ। ਉਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਟਿੱਕਾਣਾਂ ਨਹੀ ਲੱਭਦਾ।

The self-willed manmukhs do not know the True One; they find no shelter, and no place of rest anywhere. ||2||

2800 ਸਚੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥

Sach Khaanaa Sach Painanaa Sachae Hee Vich Vaas ||

सचु

खाणा सचु पैनणा सचे ही विचि वासु ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਝ ਕੇ, ਖਾਂਣਾਂ, ਪਾਉਣਾਂ ਹੈ। ਉਸੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੱਣਾਂ ਹੈ।

Those who take the Truth as their food and the Truth as their clothing, have their home in the True One.

ਸਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

Sadhaa Sachaa Saalaahanaa Sachai Sabadh Nivaas ||

सदा

सचा सालाहणा सचै सबदि निवासु ॥

ਹਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾਂ ਗਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ।

They constantly praise the True One, and in the True Word of the Shabad they have their dwelling.

आतम रामु पछाणिआ गुरमती निज घरि वासु ॥३॥

ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਜਾਂਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ

ਗੁਰਮਤ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ||3||

They recognize the Lord, the Supreme Soul in all, and through the Guru's Teachings they dwell in the home of their own inner self. ||3||

2803 ਸਚੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

Sach Vaekhan Sach Bolanaa Than Man Sachaa Hoe ||

सचु

वेखणु सचु बोलणा तनु मनु सचा होइ ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਰੀਰ, ਆਤਮਾਂ ਸਬ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

They see the Truth, and they speak the Truth; their bodies and minds are True.

ਸਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥

Sachee Saakhee Oupadhaes Sach Sachae Sachee Soe ||

सची

साखी उपदेसु सचु सचे सची सोइ ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਨੇਹੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਰੱਬ ਵਰਗੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

True are their teachings, and True are their instructions; True are the reputations of the true ones.

ਜਿੰਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਚਲੇ ਰੋਇ ॥੪॥

जिंनी

सचु विसारिआ से दुखीए चले रोइ ॥४॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have forgotten the True One are miserable-they depart weeping and wailing. ||4||

2806 ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥

जिनी न सेविओ से कितु आए संसारि ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਏ ਹਨ।

Those who have not served the True Guru-why did they even bother to come into the world?

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਪੂਕਾਰ ॥

दरि बधे मारीअहि कूक न सुणै पूकार ॥

ਜਮਦੂਤ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ

ਉਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਚੁਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕੋਈ ਉਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਿਣਾਂ, ਚਿਕਣਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ।

They are bound and gagged and beaten at Death's door, but no one hears their shrieks and cries.

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥੫॥

बिरथा

जनमु गवाइआ मरि जमहि वारो वार ॥५॥

ਐਵੇਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਮਰਦਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ।

They waste their lives uselessly; they die and are reincarnated over and over again. ||5||
