सो प्रभु जाणीऐ साचो साचै नाइ ॥५॥

ਸੱਚਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਹੈ।

God is known throughout the three worlds. True is the Name of the True One. ||5||

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

धन खरी सुहावणी जिनि पिरु जाता संगि ॥

ਜੀਵ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸੁੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਮਝ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਮਾਂਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

The wife who knows that her Husband Lord is always with her is very beautiful.

ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ॥

महली

महलि बुलाईऐ सो पिरु रावे रंगि ॥

ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ

ਆਪਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ-ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਰੰਗ-ਰਲੀਆਂ ਅਰਾਮ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The soul-bride is called to the Mansion of the His Presence, and her Husband Lord ravishes her with love.

ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੬॥

सचि

सुहागणि सा भली पिरि मोही गुण संगि ॥६॥

ਉਹ

ਜੀਵ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

The happy soul-bride is true and good; she is fascinated by the Glories of her Husband Lord. ||6||

ਭੂਲੀ ਭੂਲੀ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਾ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਿ ਡੂਗਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥

भूली थलि चड़ा थलि चड़ि डूगरि जाउ ॥

ਜੇ

ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਘੁੰਮਾਂ-ਭੱਟਕਾਂ, ਧਰਤੀ ਘੁੰਮ ਕੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਜਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ।

Wandering around and making mistakes, I climb the plateau; having climbed the plateau, I go up the mountain.

ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਉ ॥

महि भूली जे फिरा बिनु गुर बूझ न पाउ ॥

ਭੁੱਲ ਕੇ ਜੰਗਲਾ

ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਟਕਦੀ ਫਿਰਾਂ, ਬਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦੇ।

But now I have lost my way, and I am wandering around in the forest; without the Guru, I do not understand.

ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੭॥

भूली जे फिरा फिरि फिरि आवउ जाउ ॥७॥

ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ, ਜੇ ਰੱਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਚਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜੇ ਲਾਉਣੇ ਪੈਣੇ ਨੇ।

If I wander around forgetting God's Name, I shall continue coming and going in reincarnation, over and over again. ||7||

ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਪਧਾਊਆ ਚਲੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਹੋਇ ॥

जाइ पधाऊआ चले चाकर होइ ॥

ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਲਵੋ। ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਨੇ।

Go and ask the travellers, how to walk on the Path as His slave.

ਰਾਜਨੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

राजनु

जाणहि आपणा दरि घरि ठाक न होइ ॥

ਜੋ

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਾਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦਾ ਸੱਮਝਦੇ ਨੇ। ਉਸ ਲਈ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਹ ਖੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਔਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

They know the Lord to be their King, and at the Door to His Home, their way is not blocked.

ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਗ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

Through the Guru, the Pure One is known, and the human body becomes pure as well.

ਪਿਤਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Pure, True Lord abides within the mind; He knows the pain of our hearts.

ਸਹਜੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲੋ ਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਮ ਤੀਰੁ ॥੧॥

सहजै

ते सुखु अगलो ना लागै जम तीरु ॥१॥

ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਟਿੱਕਾ ਕੇ-ਅਡੋਲ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਮ ਦੀ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਸੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ।

ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਪ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ।

O Siblings of Destiny, filth is washed away by bathing in the Pure Water of the Name.

ਦਾ ਘਰ ਸੋਹਾਣਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਆਪ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।

The Temple of the Lord is beautiful; it was made by the Creator Lord.

The sun and the moon are lamps of incomparably beautiful light. Throughout the three worlds, the Infinite Light is pervading.

The ointment of spiritual wisdom is the destroyer of fear; through love, the Pure One is seen.

ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਠਾਇ ॥

प्रगटु सभ जाणीऐ जे मनु राखै ठाइ ॥

ਸਾਰੇ

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਨੇ। ਪਰ ਫੇਰ ਵੀ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ।

The mysteries of the seen and the unseen are all known, if the mind is kept centered and balanced.

ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥

ऐसा

सतिगुरु जे मिलै ता सहजे लए मिलाइ ॥३॥

ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਿਲੇ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹੀਏ, ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ

If one finds such a True Guru, the Lord is met with intuitive ease. ||3||

ਕਸਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਪਰਖੇ ਹਿਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

कसवटी लाईऐ परखे हितु चितु लाइ ॥

ਜੀਵਾਂ

ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਪੱਰਖਦਾ ਬੜੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਫੱਡਦਾ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He draws us to His Touchstone, to test our love and consciousness.

ਖੋਟੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਖਰੇ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

खोटे

ठउर न पाइनी खरे खजानै पाइ ॥

ਮਾੜਿਆਂ

ਨੂੰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਲੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The counterfeit have no place there, but the genuine are placed in His Treasury.

ਆਸ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਇਉ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥

Aas Andhaesaa Dhoor Kar Eio Mal Jaae Samaae ||4||

आस

अंदेसा दूरि करि इउ मलु जाइ समाइ ॥४॥

ਆਸਾ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ, ਇਉ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ।

Let your hopes and anxieties depart; thus pollution is washed away. ||4||

ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

Sukh Ko Maagai Sabh Ko Dhukh N Maagai Koe ||

सुख

कउ मागै सभु को दुखु न मागै कोइ ॥

ਅੰਨਦ

ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਜੀਵ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ। ਰੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਨੀ ਲੋੜਦਾ।

Everyone begs for happiness; no one asks for suffering.

ਸੁਖੈ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

Sukhai Ko Dhukh Agalaa Manamukh Boojh N Hoe ||

सुखै

कउ दुखु अगला मनमुखि बूझ न होइ ॥

ਸੁੱਖ

ਦੁੱਖ ਇਕੋ ਮੰਨਣੇ ਚਹੀਦੇ ਨੇ। ਮਨਮੁੱਖ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।

But in the wake of happiness, there comes great suffering. The self-willed manmukhs do not understand this.

ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥

Sukh Dhukh Sam Kar Jaaneeahi Sabadh Bhaedh Sukh Hoe ||5||

सुख

दुख सम करि जाणीअहि सबदि भेदि सुखु होइ ॥५॥

ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤੀ ਰੋਗ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਜਾਣੀਏ। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਿਚਾਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who see pain and pleasure as one and the same find peace; they are pierced through by the Shabad. ||5||

ਬੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਵਾਚੀਐ ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਆਸੁ ॥

पुकारे वाचीऐ बाणी ब्रहम बिआसु ॥

ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਦਾ

ਨੂੰ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਵੱਧਉਣਾਂ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Vedas proclaim, and the words of Vyaasa tell us,

ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਧਿਕਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥

मुनि

जन सेवक साधिका नामि रते गुणतासु ॥

ਰਿਸ਼ੀ

ਮੁਨੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵੀ, ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ, ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇ।

That the silent sages, the servants of the Lord, and those who practice a life of spiritual discipline are attuned to the Naam, the Treasure of Excellence.

ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਗਏ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੬॥

Sach Rathae Sae Jin Geae Ho Sadh Balihaarai Jaas ||6||

सचि

रते से जिणि गए हउ सद बलिहारै जासु ॥६॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਜਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Those who are attuned to the True Name win the game of life; I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||6||

ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਮਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥

जुगि मैले मलु भरे जिन मुखि नामु न होइ ॥

ਸਦਾ

ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ। ਜੋ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੱਖ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।

Those who do not have the Naam in their mouths are filled with pollution; they are filthy throughout the four ages.

ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥

भाइ विहूणिआ मुहु काला पति खोइ ॥

ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜਨ, ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿੰਨਾਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੁਰਜਾਏ ਕੁਮਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੂੰਹ ਨੀੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਸ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇੱਜ਼ਤ-ਲਾਜ ਗੁਆ ਬਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ

Without loving devotion to God, their faces are blackened, and their honor is lost.

ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਅਵਗਣ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਇ ॥੭॥

नामु विसारिआ अवगण मुठी रोइ ॥७॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਨੇ।

Those who have forgotten the Naam are plundered by evil; they weep and wail in dismay. ||7||

ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਡਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

खोजत पाइआ डरु करि मिलै मिलाइ ॥

ਲੱਭਦਿਆਂ

ਖੋਜਦਿਆਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾਂ ਹੈ।

I searched and searched, and found God. In the Fear of God, I have been united in His Union.

ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

पछाणै घरि वसै हउमै त्रिसना जाइ ॥

ਬਾਹਰ

ਦੀ ਭੱਟਕਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੋਜਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਉਮੈ ਲਾਲਚ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through self-realization, people dwell within the home of their inner being; egotism and desire depart.

Listen, O deluded and demented mind: hold tight to the Guru's Feet.

ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ

ਨਾਂਮ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਭੀ ਭੈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਸੋਗ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; death will be afraid of you, and suffering shall depart.

(ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਥ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਪਤੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ||1||
