सभु

जगु काजल कोठड़ी तनु मनु देह सुआहि ॥

ਇਹ

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਲਾ ਕਰ ਹਹੇ ਨੇ। ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਕਾਲਸ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਭੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
The whole world is a store-house of lamp-black; the body and mind are blackened with it.

ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਭਾਹਿ ॥੭॥

गुरि

राखे से निरमले सबदि निवारी भाहि ॥७॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਬੱਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਂਬਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who are saved by the Guru are immaculate and pure; through the Word of the Shabad, they extinguish the fire of desire. ||7||

ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਚ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਂਮ ਹੀ ਉਚਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਚਾ ਮਾਹਾਰਾਜ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, they swim across with the True Name of the Lord, the King above the heads of kings.

करि घरि बैसणा नित चलणै की धोख ॥

ਇਸ

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਸੱਮਝਕੇ ਰਹਿਸ਼ ਜੱਦੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾਂ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
They have made this their resting place and they sit at home, but the urge to depart is always there.

ता परु जाणीऐ जा रहै निहचलु लोक ॥१॥

ਪੱਕਾ ਕਬਜਾ ਤਾਂ ਜਮਾਈਏ ਜੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਰਹਿਣਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ।

This would be known as a lasting place of rest, only if they were to remain stable and unchanging. ||1||

ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ। ਮੁਲਾਂ ਸਿਰਾਂਣੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Yogis sit in their Yogic postures, and the Mullahs sit at their resting stations.

कूच कूचा करि गए अवरे भि चलणहार ॥३॥

ਸਾਰੇ

ਮਰ ਗਏ। ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ॥३॥

मुहति कि चलणा दिल समझु तूं भि पहूचु ॥४॥

ਪਲ ਛਿਨ ਦੋ ਘੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਣਾਂ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲੈ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਾਂ ਹੈ।

ਸਬਦਾਹ ਮਾਹਿ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਤ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

माहि वखाणीऐ विरला त बूझै कोइ ॥

ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ

ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਿਸੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਲੀ ਜ਼ਕੀਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
2603 ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੫॥

वखाणै बेनती जलि थलि महीअलि सोइ ॥५॥

अलखु अगमु कादरु करणहारु करीमु ॥

ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦਿਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕ ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਮੁਆਫਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
He is Allah, the Unknowable, the Inaccessible, All-powerful and Merciful Creator.

दुनी आवण जावणी मुकामु एकु रहीमु ॥६॥

ਸਾਰੀ

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਜੰਮਦੀ ਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੱਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੱਬ ਹੈ।
All the world comes and goes-only the Merciful Lord is permanent. ||6||

ਮੁਕਾਮੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਸਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਲੇਖੁ ॥

तिस नो आखीऐ जिसु सिसि न होवी लेखु ॥

ਜੀਵਤ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਕਹੀਏ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
Call permanent only the One, who does not have destiny inscribed upon His Forehead.

ਅਸਮਾਨੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਚਲਸੀ ਮੁਕਾਮੁ ਓਹੀ ਏਕੁ ॥੭॥

असमानु

धरती चलसी मुकामु ओही एकु ॥७॥

ਅੰਬਰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵੀ ਖੱਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਜੀਵਤ ਹੈ, ਰਹੇਗਾ।

ਦਿਨ ਰਵਿ ਚਲੈ ਨਿਸਿ ਸਸਿ ਚਲੈ ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਲਖ ਪਲੋਇ ॥

दिन

रवि चलै निसि ससि चलै तारिका लख पलोइ ॥

ਦਿਨ

ਸੂਰਜ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਰਾਤ ਚੰਦ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਲੱਖਾ ਤਾਰੇ ਖੱਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
The day and the sun shall pass away; the night and the moon shall pass away; the hundreds of thousands of stars shall disappear.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ

ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
By God's Grace, the Gurmukh practices devotion; without the Guru, there is no devotional worship.

ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

आपै

आपु मिलाए बूझै ता निरमलु होवै कोइ ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who merges his own self into Him understands, and so becomes pure.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

हरि

जीउ सचा सची बाणी सबदि मिलावा होइ ॥१॥

ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

हरि जगजीवनु दाता आपे बखसि मिलाए ॥

ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord Himself, the Life of the World, is the Giver. He Himself forgives, and unites us with Himself.

जंत ए किआ वेचारे किआ को आखि सुणाए ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਜੰਤੂ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਹਨ। ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ? ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਮਨ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
What are these poor beings and creatures? What can they speak and say?

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੨॥

आपे दे वडिआई आपे सेव कराए ॥२॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾਂ ਬੱਖਸ਼ਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

कुट्मबु मोहि लोभाणा चलदिआ नालि न जाई ॥

ਕਬੀਲਾ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੋਹਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੁਰਨਾਂ।
Beholding your family, you are lured away by emotional attachment, but when you leave, they will not go with you.
