इहु

जनमु पदारथु पाइ कै हरि नामु न चेतै लिव लाइ ॥

ਇਹੁ

ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਲੋੜ ਲਈ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਚੇਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾ ਕੇ, ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ?
The blessing of this human life has been obtained, but still, people do not lovingly focus their thoughts on the Name of the Lord.

ਪਗਿ ਖਿਸਿਐ ਰਹਣਾ ਨਹੀ ਆਗੈ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

खिसिऐ रहणा नही आगै ठउरु न पाइ ॥

ਮਰ

ਜਾਣਾ ਪੈਰ ਥਿੜਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਅੱਗੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਥਾਂ ਦੇਣੀ।
Their feet slip, and they cannot stay here any longer. And in the next world, they find no place of rest at all.

ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥

वेला हथि न आवई अंति गइआ पछुताइ ॥

ਵੀਤਿਆ

ਵੇਲਾ ਫਿਰ ਨਹੀ ਲੱਭਣਾ। ਫਿਰ ਅਖੀਰ ਝੂਰਨਾ ਪੈਣਾ।
This opportunity shall not come again. In the end, they depart, regretting and repenting.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਉਬਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥

जिसु

नदरि करे सो उबरै हरि सेती लिव लाइ ॥४॥

ਜਿਸ

ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਉਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾ ਕੇ, ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਵ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those whom the Lord blesses with His Glance of Grace are saved; they are lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||4||

ਦੇਖਾ ਦੇਖੀ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

देखा

देखी सभ करे मनमुखि बूझ न पाइ ॥

ਰੱਬ

ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ। ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।
They all show off and pretend, but the self-willed manmukhs do not understand.

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ਪਈ ਤਿਨ ਥਾਇ ॥

जिन

गुरमुखि हिरदा सुधु है सेव पई तिन थाइ ॥

ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਦਾਂ ਹੈ।
Those Gurmukhs who are pure of heart-their service is accepted.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਪੜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

Har Gun Gaavehi Har Nith Parrehi Har Gun Gaae Samaae ||

हरि

गुण गावहि हरि नित पड़हि हरि गुण गाइ समाइ ॥

ਹਰਿ

ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਗਾ, ਪੜ੍ਹ, ਉਪਮਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ, ਉਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ।
They sing the Glorious Praise of the Lord; they read about the Lord each day. Singing the Praise of the Lord, they merge in absorption.

O Nanak, the words of those who are lovingly attuned to the Naam are true forever. ||5||4||37||

इक मनि नामु धिआइआ गुरमती वीचारि ॥

ਜਿਸ

ਨੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ, ਇੱਕਾਗਰ ਚਿੱਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ, ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨੁੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
Those who meditate single-mindedly on the Naam, and contemplate the Teachings of the Guru

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ

ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ।

अम्रितु पीवहि सदा सदा सचै नामि पिआरि ॥१॥

ਸਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ
They drink in the Ambrosial Nectar forever and ever, and they love the True Name. ||1||

O Siblings of Destiny, the Gurmukhs are honored forever.

हरि

हरि सदा धिआईऐ मलु हउमै कढै धोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਭਗਵਾਨ

ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜੱਪੀਏ। ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬਾ ਤੂੰ-ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਿਕੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
They meditate forever on the Lord, Har, Har, and they wash off the filth of egotism. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

Manamukh Naam N Jaananee Vin Naavai Path Jaae ||

मनमुख

नामु न जाणनी विणु नावै पति जाइ ॥

The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Naam. Without the Name, they lose their honor.

ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਲਾਗੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

सबदै

सादु न आइओ लागे दूजै भाइ ॥

ਸਬਦਾ

ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ। ਹੋਰਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਪਿਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਗਏ ਹਨ।।
They do not savor the Taste of the Shabad; they are attached to the love of duality.

ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਪਵਹਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਸੇ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥

Visattaa Kae Keerrae Pavehi Vich Visattaa Sae Visattaa Maahi Samaae ||2||

विसटा

के कीड़े पवहि विचि विसटा से विसटा माहि समाइ ॥२॥

ਉਹ ਨੱਰਕ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਜੀਵ, ਜਿਸ ਨੱਰਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ। ਉਸੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ।

They are worms in the filth of manure. They fall into manure, and into manure they are absorbed. ||2||

ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥

तिन

का जनमु सफलु है जो चलहि सतगुर भाइ ॥

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ

ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮੁਕਮੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
Fruitful are the lives of those who walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.

ਕੁਲੁ ਉਧਾਰਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਇ ॥

Kul Oudhhaarehi Aapanaa Dhhann Janaedhee Maae ||

कुलु

उधारहि आपणा धंनु जणेदी माइ ॥

ਉਹ

ਆਪਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਲੈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਮਾਂ ਭਾਗਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
Their families are saved; blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਸ ਨਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੩॥

Har Har Naam Dhhiaaeeai Jis No Kirapaa Karae Rajaae ||3||

हरि

हरि नामु धिआईऐ जिस नउ किरपा करे रजाइ ॥३॥

ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪੀਏ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ।

By His Will He grants His Grace; those who are so blessed, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

जिनी

गुरमुखि नामु धिआइआ विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥

ਜਿਸ

ਨੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ, ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਦੇ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਚਾਅ ਖੱਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs meditate on the Naam; they eradicate selfishness and conceit from within.

ਓਇ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

अंदरहु बाहरहु निरमले सचे सचि समाइ ॥

ਉਹ

ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ। ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are pure, inwardly and outwardly; they merge into the Truest of the True.

आए से परवाणु हहि जिन गुरमती हरि धिआइ ॥४॥५॥३८॥

ਨਾਨਕ

ਜੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹੀ ਜਨਮੇ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਨੇ। ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੰਨ ਲਈ। ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ ਜੁੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, blessed is the coming of those who follow the Guru's Teachings and meditate on the Lord. ||4||5||38||

हरि

भगता हरि धनु रासि है गुर पूछि करहि वापारु ॥

ਹਰੀ

ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧੰਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵੱਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸ਼ੀਰਵਾਦ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੋਟ ਨਾਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਨਾਂਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The devotees of the Lord have the Wealth and Capital of the Lord; with Guru's Advice, they carry on their trade.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਖਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

Har Naam Salaahan Sadhaa Sadhaa Vakhar Har Naam Adhhaar ||

हरि

नामु सलाहनि सदा सदा वखरु हरि नामु अधारु ॥

ਹਰੀ

ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰੀ ਨਾਂਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

They praise the Name of the Lord forever and ever. The Name of the Lord is their Merchandise and Support.

पूरै हरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ हरि भगता अतुटु भंडारु ॥१॥

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਆਉਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਂਮ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ।

The Perfect Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord into the Lord's devotees; it is an Inexhaustible Treasure. ||1||

हरि

भगति हरि का पिआरु है जे गुरमुखि करे बीचारु ॥

ਜੇ

ਗੁਰਮੁੱਖ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ। ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਉਣਾ ਸੱਚੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਨੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਨਾ ਦੁਖਾਉਣਾ ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ।

Devotion to the Lord is love for the Lord. The Gurmukh reflects deeply and contemplates.

ਦੇਖਵੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਸ ਬੱਦਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ। ਐਸੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਦਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਖੱਜਲ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਹੈ।
Hypocrisy is not devotion-speaking words of duality leads only to misery.

ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਰਲਾਇਆ ਨਾ ਰਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

जनु रलाइआ ना रलै जिसु अंतरि बिबेक बीचारु ॥२॥

ਉਹ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਸੁੱਧ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਨੇ।

Those humble beings who are filled with keen understanding and meditative contemplation-even though they intermingle with others, they remain distinct. ||2||

ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

So Saevak Har Aakheeai Jo Har Raakhai Our Dhhaar ||

सो

सेवकु हरि आखीऐ जो हरि राखै उरि धारि ॥

ਉਹ

ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
Those who keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts are said to be the servants of the Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਉਪੇ ਆਗੈ ਧਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥

मनु

तनु सउपे आगै धरे हउमै विचहु मारि ॥

ਮਨ

ਤਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੋਲੇ ਰੱਖੀਏ। ਮੈਂ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਰ ਜਾਦੀ।
Placing mind and body in offering before the Lord, they conquer and eradicate egotism from within.

ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

Dhhan Guramukh So Paravaan Hai J Kadhae N Aavai Haar ||3||

धनु

गुरमुखि सो परवाणु है जि कदे न आवै हारि ॥३॥

ਉਹ

ਗੁਰਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ।
Blessed and acclaimed is that Gurmukh, who shall never be defeated. ||3||

ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

Karam Milai Thaa Paaeeai Vin Karamai Paaeiaa N Jaae ||

करमि

मिलै ता पाईऐ विणु करमै पाइआ न जाइ ॥

ਲੇਖਾਂ
ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਗਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
Those who receive His Grace find Him. Without His Grace, He cannot be found.
