ਜਿਹੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਤੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
As is their awareness, so is their way.

ਰੱਬਾ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
Even if You, O Lord and Master, become angry with them,

तू

ਜੀਵਾਦਾ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੇ। ||2||

Still, You are theirs, and they are Yours. ||2||

बोलविगाड़ विगाड़ह बोल ॥

ਅਸੀਂ

ਜੀਵ ਗਲ਼ਤ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
We are foul-mouthed; we spoil everything with our foul words.

तू

नदरी अंदरि तोलहि तोल ॥

ਤੂੰ

ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਂਈ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
You weigh us in the balance of Your Glance of Grace.

करणी तह पूरी मति ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗ੍ਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
When one's actions are right, the understanding is perfect.

बाझहु घटे घटि ॥३॥

ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਾਜਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਬਰਕੱਤ ਨਹੀ। ||3||
Without good deeds, it becomes more and more deficient. ||3||

ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜੇ, ਪਛਾਣੇ, ਲੱਭੇ, ਜੀਵ ਆਪ ਵੱਲ ਸਮਾ ਲਾਉਣ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹੀ ਬੁੱਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
They are self-realized; they understand God.

ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦਰਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਜੀਵ ਮੱਛਲੀ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਭੇਤ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣਾ?
You are the River, All-knowing and All-seeing. I am just a fish-how can I find Your limit?

ਪਾਸੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਭ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਬਿੰਨਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਮਰ ਹੀ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
Wherever I look, You are there. Outside of You, I would burst and die. ||1||

ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਜਾਲੀ ॥

जाणा मेउ न जाणा जाली ॥

ਮੱਛੀ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਜਾਲ

ਤੇ ਫਾਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ।
I do not know of the fisherman, and I do not know of the net.

ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਲਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
You are present everywhere. I had thought that You were far away.

ਜੋ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever I do, I do in Your Presence.

तू

देखहि हउ मुकरि पाउ ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਛੁਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
You see all my actions, and yet I deny them.

ਤੇਰੈ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥

तेरै

कमि न तेरै नाइ ॥२॥

ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ

ਤੇਰੀ ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ, ਨਾਂਮ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ||2||
I have not worked for You, or Your Name. ||2||

देहि तेता हउ खाउ ॥

ਜੋ

ਤੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
Whatever You give me, that is what I eat.

ਬਿਆ ਦਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥

Biaa Dhar Naahee Kai Dhar Jaao ||

बिआ

दरु नाही कै दरि जाउ ॥

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀ ਦਿਸਦਾ। ਕੀਹਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਵਾਂ?
There is no other door-unto which door should I go?

आपे

नेड़ै दूरि आपे ही आपे मंझि मिआनो ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਦੇ ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਨਹੀ। ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਚੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
He Himself is near, and He Himself is far away; He Himself is in-between.

ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਹਾਨੋੁ ॥

आपे

वेखै सुणे आपे ही कुदरति करे जहानो ॥

ਆਪੇ

ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪੇ ਸਾਰੀਆ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਜਹਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself beholds, and He Himself listens. By His Creative Power, He created the world.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਪਰਵਾਨੋੁ ॥੪॥੩੧॥

तिसु भावै नानका हुकमु सोई परवानो ॥४॥३१॥

Why should the created beings feel pride in their minds?

देवणहारे

कै हथि दानु ॥

ਨਾਂਮ

ਦਾਨ ਰੱਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ।
The Gift is in the Hands of the Great Giver.

ਭਾਵੈ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਸੋਇ ॥

भावै

देइ न देई सोइ ॥

ਮਰਜੀ

ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਦੇਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
As it pleases Him, He may give, or not give.

ਕੀਤੇ ਕੈ ਕਹਿਐ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

कीते

कै कहिऐ किआ होइ ॥१॥

ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਕਰਨੇ

ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਸਭ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥ ||1||
What can be done by the order of the created beings? ||1||

ਆਪੇ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਚੁ ॥

आपे

सचु भावै तिसु सचु ॥

ਜੋ

ਸੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੱਗੇ ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ।
He Himself is True; Truth is pleasing to His Will.

ਅੰਧਾ ਕਚਾ ਕਚੁ ਨਿਕਚੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अंधा

कचा कचु निकचु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਅੰਧਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਭੱਟਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਚੱਜ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ। ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਕੱਚ ਵਾਗ ਕੱਚਾ ਕੱਚ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਾਂ। ।।

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਰੁਖ ਦੱਰਖਤ ਬਣਾਏ।

The One who owns the trees of the forest and the plants of the garden

धातु तेहा तिन नाउ ॥

ਜਿਹੋ

ਜਿਹੇ ਗੁਣ, ਬੀਜ, ਧਾਤ ਨੇ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਸ ਵਸਤੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਹੈ।
According to their nature, He gives them all their names.

ਫੁਲੁ ਭਾਉ ਫਲੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥

Ful Bhaao Fal Likhiaa Paae ||

फुलु

भाउ फलु लिखिआ पाइ ॥

ਫੁਲ

ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੜਾਉਦੇ ਨੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਫੁਲ ਹੈ।
The Flower and the Fruit of the Lord's Love are obtained by pre-ordained destiny.

आपि

बीजि आपे ही खाइ ॥२॥

ਜੋ ਜਿਹੋਂ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

कची

कंध कचा विचि राजु ॥

ਕੰਧ

ਦੀ ਦੇਹ, ਸਰੀਰ ਵੀ ਕੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਮਿਸਤਰੀ ਮਨ ਵੀ ਕੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
The wall of the body is temporary, as is the soul-mason within it.

ਅਕਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਬ ਫਿਕੇ ਹਨ।
The flavor of the intellect is bland and insipid without the Salt.

अछल

छलाई नह छलै नह घाउ कटारा करि सकै ॥

ਨਾਂਮ

ਦੀ ਮਇਆ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਖੋਹੀ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਦੀ। ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਚੋਰਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਖੰਜਰ ਮਾਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਉਤੇ ਜਖ਼ਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ
The Undeceiveable is not deceived by deception. He cannot be wounded by any dagger.

जिउ

साहिबु राखै तिउ रहै इसु लोभी का जीउ टल पलै ॥१॥

ਜਿਵੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਿਵੇ ਰਹਾਂ। ਲੋਬੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਟਿੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

As our Lord and Master keeps us, so do we exist. The soul of this greedy person is tossed this way and that. ||1||

भउ

वटी इतु तनि पाईऐ ॥

ਗਿਆਨ

ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਈਏ।

And let the Fear of God be the wick for the lamp of this body.

ਸਚੁ ਬੂਝਣੁ ਆਣਿ ਜਲਾਈਐ ॥੨॥

Sach Boojhan Aan Jalaaeeai ||2||

सचु

बूझणु आणि जलाईऐ ॥२॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲੀਏ।

ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਖਸਮ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਸੀਰਰ ਉਤੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
This body is softened with the Word of the Guru's Bani;

सुखु

होवै सेव कमाणीआ ॥

ਸੁੱਖ
ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ, ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ, ਸੱਚੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰੀਏ।
You shall find peace, doing seva selfless service.
