जल

महि जीअ उपाइ कै बिनु जल मरणु तिनेहि ॥१॥

ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਰੱਬ ਉਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In the water, the creatures are created; outside of the water they die. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਆਰ ॥

ਉਵੇਂ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੇਰ ਬੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

O mind, how can you be saved without love?

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਕੋਲ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਦਰ, ਉਸ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ।

मन ऐसी हरि सिउ प्रीति करि जैसी मछुली नीर ॥

, ਮੱਛਲੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

O mind, love the Lord, as the fish loves the water.

ਜਿਉ ਅਧਿਕਉ ਤਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥

जिउ

अधिकउ तिउ सुखु घणो मनि तनि सांति सरीर ॥

ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵੱਧ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੱਛੀ ਉਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਤਨ ਸਰੀਰ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।

The more the water, the more the happiness, and the greater the peace of mind and body.

ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਭ ਪੀਰ ॥੨॥

बिनु

जल घड़ी न जीवई प्रभु जाणै अभ पीर ॥२॥

ਮੱਛੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਬਗੈਰ ਘੜੀ ਬਿੰਦ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਇਹ ਰੱਬ ਆਪ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without water, she cannot live, even for an instant. God knows the suffering of her mind. ||2||

, ਪਪੀਹਾ ਮੀਹ ਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

O mind, love the Lord, as the song-bird loves the rain.

ਸਰ ਭਰਿ ਥਲ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੇ ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਨ ਪਵਈ ਕੇਹ ॥

Sar Bhar Thhal Hareeaavalae Eik Boondh N Pavee Kaeh ||

सर

भरि थल हरीआवले इक बूंद न पवई केह ॥

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤਲਾਬ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਹਰੀਆਲੀ ਲਿਹਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਬੂਦ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

The pools are overflowing with water, and the land is luxuriantly green, but what are they to her, if that single drop of rain does not fall into her mouth?

ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੇਹ ॥੩॥

Karam Milai So Paaeeai Kirath Paeiaa Sir Dhaeh ||3||

करमि

मिलै सो पाईऐ किरतु पइआ सिरि देह ॥३॥

ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹੀ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਆਉਣਾਂ ਹੈ।

By His Grace, she receives it; otherwise, because of her past actions, she gives her head. ||3||

ਆਵਟਣੁ ਆਪੇ ਖਵੈ ਦੁਧ ਕਉ ਖਪਣਿ ਨ ਦੇਇ ॥

Aavattan Aapae Khavai Dhudhh Ko Khapan N Dhaee ||

आवटणु

आपे खवै दुध कउ खपणि न देइ ॥

ਦੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚਲਾ ਪਾਣੀ, ਸੇਕ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਜਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਸੜਨ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ।

The water, added to the milk, itself bears the heat, and prevents the milk from burning.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥

Aapae Mael Vishhunniaa Sach Vaddiaaee Dhaee ||4||

आपे

मेलि विछुंनिआ सचि वडिआई देइ ॥४॥

ਦੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਗ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਐਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੱਡਆਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।||4||

God unites the separated ones with Himself again, and blesses them with true greatness. ||4||

ਹੇ ਮਨ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਡ ਕਰ ਜਿਵੇ

, ਚੱਕਵੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

O mind, love the Lord, as the chakvee duck loves the sun.

ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਸੋਵਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥

खिनु

पलु नीद न सोवई जाणै दूरि हजूरि ॥

ਚੱਕਵੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਡੁਬਣ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੇ। ਪਲ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂਦੀ, ਨੀਂਦ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਅੱਖ ਵੀ ਝੱਪਦੀ।

She does not sleep, for an instant or a moment; the sun is so far away, but she thinks that it is near.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੫॥

Manamukh Sojhee Naa Pavai Guramukh Sadhaa Hajoor ||5||

मनमुखि

सोझी ना पवै गुरमुखि सदा हजूरि ॥५॥

ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਏ, ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਬ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਮਜ਼ਾ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

Understanding does not come to the self-willed manmukh. But to the Gurmukh, the Lord is always close. ||5||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਵਣੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

Manamukh Ganath Ganaavanee Karathaa Karae S Hoe ||

मनमुखि

गणत गणावणी करता करे सु होइ ॥

ਮਨ

ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ, ਵੱਡਆਈਆਂ ਹੀ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਰੱਬ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਉਸ-ਮਨਮੱਤ ਦਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukhs make their calculations and plans, but only the actions of the Creator come to pass.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

Thaa Kee Keemath Naa Pavai Jae Lochai Sabh Koe ||

ता

की कीमति ना पवै जे लोचै सभु कोइ ॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ, ਚਾਹੁਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਹਦੇ।

His Value cannot be estimated, even though everyone may wish to do so.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥

Guramath Hoe Th Paaeeai Sach Milai Sukh Hoe ||6||

गुरमति

होइ त पाईऐ सचि मिलै सुखु होइ ॥६॥

ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁੱਖ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਬਲ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁੱਖ ਤਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਜਦੋਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ||6||

Through the Guru's Teachings, it is revealed. Meeting with the True One, peace is found. ||6||

ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

सचा

नेहु न तुटई जे सतिगुरु भेटै सोइ ॥

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ। ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪ ਬੱਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

True love shall not be broken, if the True Guru is met.

ਗਿਆਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥

गिआन

पदारथु पाईऐ त्रिभवण सोझी होइ ॥

ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਬ ਪਾਸੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਹੈ।

Obtaining the wealth of spiritual wisdom, the understanding of the three worlds is acquired.

ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੭॥

Niramal Naam N Veesarai Jae Gun Kaa Gaahak Hoe ||7||

निरमलु

नामु न वीसरै जे गुण का गाहकु होइ ॥७॥

ਸੱਚਾ

-ਸੁੱਚਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਾਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਰੱਬੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪੜ੍ਹ-ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ||7||

So become a customer of merit, and do not forget the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||7||

ਖੇਲਿ ਗਏ ਸੇ ਪੰਖਣੂੰ ਜੋ ਚੁਗਦੇ ਸਰ ਤਲਿ ॥

Khael Geae Sae Pankhanoon Jo Chugadhae Sar Thal ||

खेलि

गए से पंखणूं जो चुगदे सर तलि ॥

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੰਛੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਉਤੇ ਅੰਨ-ਜਲ ਖਾ-ਪੀ ਕੇ, ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭੋਗ, ਭੋਗ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those birds which peck at the shore of the pool have played and have departed.

ਘੜੀ ਕਿ ਮੁਹਤਿ ਕਿ ਚਲਣਾ ਖੇਲਣੁ ਅਜੁ ਕਿ ਕਲਿ ॥

Gharree K Muhath K Chalanaa Khaelan Aj K Kal ||

घड़ी

कि मुहति कि चलणा खेलणु अजु कि कलि ॥

ਸਾਰੇ ਜਿਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਘੜੀ ਪਲ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡ ਕੇ, ਅੱਜ ਕੱਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਣਾਂ ਹੈ।

In a moment, in an instant, we too must depart. Our play is only for today or tomorrow.

ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਚਾ ਪਿੜੁ ਮਲਿ ॥੮॥

जिसु

तूं मेलहि सो मिलै जाइ सचा पिड़ु मलि ॥८॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਆਪ ਚਾਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

But those whom You unite, Lord, are united with You; they obtain a seat in the Arena of Truth. ||8||

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

बिनु

गुर प्रीति न ऊपजै हउमै मैलु न जाइ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਬਗੈਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਣਦਾ, ਮਨ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ, ਮੈਂ-ਮੇਰੀ ਦਾ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ।

Without the Guru, love does not well up, and the filth of egotism does not depart.

ਸੋਹੰ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥

Sohan Aap Pashhaaneeai Sabadh Bhaedh Patheeaae ||

सोहं

आपु पछाणीऐ सबदि भेदि पतीआइ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ, ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ-ਆਪ ਦੀ ਸੋਜੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਦ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who recognizes within himself that, ""He is me"", and who is pierced through by the Shabad, is satisfied.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਅਵਰ ਕਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇ ॥੯॥

Guramukh Aap Pashhaaneeai Avar K Karae Karaae ||9||

गुरमुखि

आपु पछाणीऐ अवर कि करे कराइ ॥९॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੁੱਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

When one becomes Gurmukh and realizes his own self, what more is there left to do or have done? ||9||

ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੇਲੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥

Miliaa Kaa Kiaa Maeleeai Sabadh Milae Patheeaae ||

मिलिआ

का किआ मेलीऐ सबदि मिले पतीआइ ॥

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ

ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਮੇਲ ਮੇਲਣਾਂ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

Why speak of union to those who are already united with the Lord? Receiving the Shabad, they are satisfied.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਵੀਛੁੜਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥

मनमुखि

सोझी ना पवै वीछुड़ि चोटा खाइ ॥

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਕਲ-ਸੁਰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ

ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਕੇ, ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾਰਾ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

दरु घरु एकु है अवरु न दूजी जाइ ॥१०॥११॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਹਿਲ ਇੱਕੋ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੇਖ, ਬਾਹਰ ਭੱਜਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸਰੀਰ ਮਨ ਦੋਂਨੇ ਹਿਲਣੋਂ ਹੱਟ ਕੇ, ਸਹਿਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਅਜੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੀ ੜਾਲਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਵੱਸ ਮਰਨਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ, ਬੱਸ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ।

मनमुखि

भुलै भुलाईऐ भूली ठउर न काइ ॥

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ। ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਟਿੱਕਾਣੇ ਉਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦੇ।

The self-willed manmukhs wander around, deluded and deceived. They find no place of rest.

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਦਿਖਾਵਈ ਅੰਧੀ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥

बिनु को न दिखावई अंधी आवै जाइ ॥

ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ, ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਦਾ, ਜੀਵ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਂ ਦਿਸਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਭੱਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without the Guru, no one is shown the Way. Like the blind, they continue coming and going.

ਗਿਆਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਠਗਿਆ ਮੁਠਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

पदारथु खोइआ ठगिआ मुठा जाइ ॥१॥

ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੋਖਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਭੱਟਕਦਾ ਹੇ।

Having lost the treasure of spiritual wisdom, they depart, defrauded and plundered. ||1||

माइआ भरमि भुलाइ ॥

ਬਾਬਾ ਦੌਲਤ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਗਰ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਬ ਛਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।

O Baba, Maya deceives with its illusion.

ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾੜੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਸ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ। ਜੀਵ

, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Deceived by doubt, the discarded bride is not received into the Lap of her Beloved. ||1||Pause||

ਭੂਲੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਦਿਸੰਤਰੀ ਭੂਲੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

फिरै दिसंतरी भूली ग्रिहु तजि जाइ ॥

ਜੀਵ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਥਾਂਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਭੱਟਕਦਾ ਪੀਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣਾਂ ਰਹਿੱਣ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾਹਨ

The deceived bride wanders around in foreign lands; she leaves, and abandons her own home.

ਭੂਲੀ ਡੂੰਗਰਿ ਥਲਿ ਚੜੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਮਨੁ ਡੋਲਾਇ ॥

भूली

डूंगरि थलि चड़ै भरमै मनु डोलाइ ॥

ਭੁਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਪਹਾੜ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਗਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਦੀ ਹੈ।

Deceived, she climbs the plateaus and mountains; her mind wavers in doubt.

ਧੁਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਗਰਬਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

विछुंनी किउ मिलै गरबि मुठी बिललाइ ॥२॥

ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲੋ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇ ਮਿਲੇ, ਗੁਮਾਨ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੱੜਫ਼ਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Separated from the Primal Being, how can she meet with Him again? Plundered by pride, she cries out and bewails. ||2||

ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥

विछुड़िआ

गुरु मेलसी हरि रसि नाम पिआरि ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਂਮ ਦੇ ਜੱਪਣ ਦੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਗੁਆਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਮੇਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru unites the separated ones with the Lord again, through the love of the Delicious Name of the Lord.
