हउ करती जगु फिरी ना धनु स्मपै नालि ॥

ਮੈ

ਮੈ ਜੀਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਜੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਫੀਆਂ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਰਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਧੰਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ।
Practicing egotism, selfishness and conceit, she wanders around the world, but her wealth and property will not go with her.

नामु न चेतई सभ बाधी जमकालि ॥

ਨਾਂਮ

ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਵਾਲੀਆ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ । ਮਾਂੜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਜੀਵ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਬੰਨ ਲਏ।
The spiritually blind do not even think of the Naam; they are all bound and gagged by the Messenger of Death.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਦਾ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ ਇੱਕਠਾ ਕਰ।

ਆਪੇ

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ। ਅਡੋਲ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who are attuned to the Naam are immaculate and pure; through the Guru, they obtain intuitive peace and poise.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇ ॥

तनु राता रंग सिउ रसना रसन रसाइ ॥

ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ, ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮਨ

ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਜੀਭ ਨਾਂਮ ਰਸ ਪੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

Their minds and bodies are dyed in the Color of the Lord's Love, and their tongues savor His Sublime Essence.

गुरमुखि

क्रिपा करे भगति कीजै बिनु गुर भगति न होई ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ

ਨੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਕੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿੰਨ ਨਾਂਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
By His Grace one becomes Gurmukh, worshipping the Lord with devotion. Without the Guru there is no devotional worship.

आपु मिलाए बूझै ता निरमलु होवै सोई ॥

ਆਪ

ਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਧ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those whom He unites with Himself, understand and become pure.

हरि

जीउ साचा साची बाणी सबदि मिलावा होई ॥१॥

ਹਰੀ ਜੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬਦ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਤੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਜੱਗ ਤੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਆਇਆ।
O Siblings of Destiny: those who lack devotion-why have they even bothered to come into the world?

जगजीवनु सुखदाता आपे बखसि मिलाए ॥

ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੱਖਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord Himself, the Life of the World, is the Giver of Peace. He Himself forgives, and unites with Himself.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਏ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥

जंत ए किआ वेचारे किआ को आखि सुणाए ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਜੰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਆਪੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗੇ ਨਹੀ। ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਣ।
So what about all these poor beings and creatures? What can anyone say?

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੨॥

गुरमुखि

आपे देइ वडाई आपे सेव कराए ॥२॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਆਪ ਉਪਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਾ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

कुट्मबु मोहि लोभाणा चलदिआ नालि न जाई ॥

ਜੀਵ

ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਿਆ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੱਸ ਗਿਆ। ਜੋ ਮਰਨ ਵੇਵੇ ਨਾਲ ਨੀ ਜਾਣੇ।
Gazing upon their families, people are lured and trapped by emotional attachment, but none will go along with them in the end.

सेवि गुण निधानु पाइआ तिस दी कीम न पाई ॥

ਸਤਗੁਰੂ

ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਦਾ ਅੰਨਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Serving the True Guru, one finds the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence. His Value cannot be estimated.

प्रभु सखा मीतु प्रभु मेरा अंते होइ सखाई ॥३॥

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੁਭੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਖੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਚਿਤ ਮਨਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਝ ਕਹਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਚੱਲ । ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿੰਨਂ ਮੈਂ ਦੀ ਮੇਰਨਹੀਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀ।
Within your conscious mind, you may say anything, but without the Guru, selfishness is not removed.

जीउ दाता भगति वछलु है करि किरपा मंनि वसाई ॥

ਹਰੀ

ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਣ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Dear Lord is the Giver, the Lover of His devotees. By His Grace, He comes to dwell in the mind.

जननी जिनि जाइआ धंनु पिता परधानु ॥

ਭਾਗਾ

ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਗਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਜਨਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed is the mother who gave birth; blessed and respected is the father of one who serves the True Guru and finds peace.

ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗੁਆਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ।
His arrogant pride is banished from within.

सेवनि संत जन खड़े पाइनि गुणी निधानु ॥१॥

ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਖੈੜੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ||1||
Standing at the Lord's Door, the humble Saints serve Him; they find the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||

ਜੀਅ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਂਮ ਜੱਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆ।

O my mind, become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Lord.

सबदी सालाहीऐ रंगे सहजि सुभाइ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ

ਸ਼ਬਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਪਮਾ ਕੀਤਿਆ, ਖੁਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਆਪੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ।
Singing His Praises through the Shabads of the Guru, we are dyed in His Color with intuitive ease.

सचै

सचि समाइआ मिलि रहै न विछुड़ि जाइ ॥२॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਕੋਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ

, ਕਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ||2||

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

किछु करणा सु करि रहिआ अवरु न करणा जाइ ॥

ਜੋ

ਰੱਬ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੁੱਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
Whatever is to be done, the Lord is doing. No one else can do anything.

ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਮੇਲਿਅਨੁ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੰਨੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

Chiree Vishhunnae Maelian Sathagur Pannai Paae ||

चिरी

विछुंने मेलिअनु सतगुर पंनै पाइ ॥

ਦੇਰ ਤੋ ਵਿਛੜੀਆ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those separated from Him for so long are reunited with Him once again by the True Guru, who takes them into His Own Account.

ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਇਸੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥

आपे

कार कराइसी अवरु न करणा जाइ ॥३॥

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਨਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

तनु रता रंग सिउ हउमै तजि विकार ॥

ਚਿਤ

ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਰੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਕਾ ਦਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ।
One whose mind and body are imbued with the Lord's Love gives up egotism and corruption.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥

अहिनिसि

हिरदै रवि रहै निरभउ नामु निरंकार ॥

ਦਿਨ

ਰਾਤ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਰੱਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਡਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਹੈ।
Day and night, the Name of the One Lord, the Fearless and Formless One, dwells within the heart.

गोविदु

गुणी निधानु है अंतु न पाइआ जाइ ॥

ਰੱਬ ਮਾਲਕ

ਕੋਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਖਜ਼ਾਂਨਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਕੁ ਵੱਡਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਹੈ ਦੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
The Lord of the Universe is the Treasure of Excellence; His limits cannot be found.

कथनी

बदनी न पाईऐ हउमै विचहु जाइ ॥

ਰੱਬ ਗੱਲਾ

ਬਾਤਾ ਮਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢਣ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is not obtained by mouthing mere words, but by rooting out ego from within.
