Panch Bhooth Sach Bhai Rathae Joth Sachee Man Maahi ||

पंच भूत सचि भै रते जोति सची मन माहि ॥

 ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਬੂ ਆ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ।
The body of the five elements is dyed in the Fear of the True One; the mind is filled with the True Light.

823 ਨਾਨਕ ਅਉਗਣ ਵੀਸਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੧੫॥

नानक  अउगण वीसरे गुरि राखे पति ताहि ॥४॥१५॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਖੱਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਗੁਰੂ ਲੜ ਲੱਗੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੀ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੀਵ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ, ਦੱਸੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਤੇ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਬੱਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Boat of Truth will ferry you across; contemplate the Guru.

ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਮਾਰ ਖਾ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਿੱਤ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through stubborn-mindedness, the intellect is drowned; one who becomes Gurmukh and truthful is saved. ||1||

Without the Guru, how can anyone swim across to find peace?

देखउ डउ जलै पाछै हरिओ अंगूरु ॥

ਅੱਗੇ

ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਜੰਗਲ ਦਿ ਅੱਗ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਾਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀਆ ਰੋਣਕਾ, ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ-ਹਰਆਲੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਤ ਕਰ ਰਹਿਆਂ ਹਨ।
In front of me, I see the jungle burning; behind me, I see green plants sprouting.

ते उपजै तिस ते बिनसै घटि घटि सचु भरपूरि ॥

ਜਿਸ

ਪ੍ਰੁਭੂ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਕਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
We shall merge into the One from whom we came. The True One is pervading each and every heart.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥

मेलि मिलावही साचै महलि हदूरि ॥२॥

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਰੱਬ ਤਾਂ ਘਰ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੀ ਖਸਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ। ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The more the Lord and Master dwells within the mind, the more the Gurmukh drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਧਣੀ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਸਮੇਉ ॥੩॥

तनु तेरा तू धणी गरबु निवारि समेउ ॥३॥

ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਆਪਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਕਰ ਲਾ।

Mind and body are Yours; You are my Master. Please rid me of my pride, and let me merge with You. ||3||

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਕਰਿ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥

एहु जगतु उपाइआ त्रिभवणु करि आकारु ॥

ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜੱਗ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭਵਨ ਜਹਾਨ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ।
The One who formed this universe created the creation of the three worlds.

चानणु जाणीऐ मनमुखि मुगधु गुबारु ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ

ਆਦਮੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh knows the Divine Light, while the foolish self-willed manmukh gropes around in the darkness.

ਕਣ ਜੀਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਦਿਸਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਹਰ ਰਮਜ਼ ਸੱਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who sees that Light within each and every heart understands the Essence of the Guru's Teachings. ||4||

जिनी जाणिआ तिन कीचै साबासि ॥

ਗੁਰੂ

ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who understand are Gurmukh; recognize and applaud them.

ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਲਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥

सचे

सेती रलि मिले सचे गुण परगासि ॥

ਉਹ

ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਝੱਲਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
They meet and merge with the True One. They become the Radiant Manifestation of the Excellence of the True One.

O Nanak, they are contented with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. They offer their bodies and souls to God. ||5||16||

Listen, O my mind, my friend, my darling: now is the time to meet the Lord.

ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਸਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਹ ॥

जब

लगु जोबनि सासु है तब लगु इहु तनु देह ॥

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ

ਚਿਰ ਸਾਹਾ ਦੀ ਗਰਮੀ ਜੋਬਨ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਹੈ।
As long as there is youth and breath, give this body to Him.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਤਨੁ ਖੇਹ ॥੧॥

बिनु

गुण कामि न आवई ढहि ढेरी तनु खेह ॥१॥

ਸਰੀਰ

ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਂਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀ ਆਉਂਣੇ। ਸਰੀਰ ਨੇ ਜਾਨ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ,ਢੇਰੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਖਾਕ ਬੱਣ ਜਾਣਾਂ ਹੈ। ||1||

Without virtue, it is useless; the body shall crumble into a pile of dust. ||1||846

ਰੱਬ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ, ਕੁੱਝ ਖੱਟ। ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
O my mind, earn the profit, before you return home.

ਰੱਬ

ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
847 ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਨਿਵਰੀ ਭਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh praises the Naam, and the fire of egotism is extinguished. ||1||Pause||

सुणि गंढणु गंढीऐ लिखि पड़ि बुझहि भारु ॥

ਸੁਣ

ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Again and again, we hear and tell stories; we read and write and understand loads of knowledge,

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅਗਲੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥

अहिनिसि अगली हउमै रोगु विकारु ॥

ਦੀਆ ਤਮੱਨਾਂ ਆਸ਼ਾ ਹਉਮੇ ਸਭ ਵੇਕਰ ਰੋਗ ਹਨ।
But still, desires increase day and night, and the disease of egotism fills us with corruption.

ਓਹੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਅਤੋਲਵਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

वेपरवाहु अतोलवा गुरमति कीमति सारु ॥२॥

ਰੱਬ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁਣਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

Even if someone has hundreds of thousands of clever mental tricks, and the love and company of hundreds of thousands of people

संगति साध न ध्रापीआ बिनु नावै दूख संतापु ॥

ਰੱਬ

ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਬਿੰਨ ਸੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਬਿੰਨ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਤੋ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਸ਼ਨ ਹਨ।

Still, without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he will not feel satisfied. Without the Name, all suffer in sorrow.

जपि जीअरे छुटीऐ गुरमुखि चीनै आपु ॥३॥

ਨਾਂਮ

ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਨ ਚਰਾਸੀ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਮੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
Chanting the Name of the Lord, O my soul, you shall be emancipated; as Gurmukh, you shall come to understand your own self. ||3||

खोजि ढंढोलिआ गुरमुखि खोजि निहालि ॥

ਤਿੰਨਾਂ

ਜਾਹਾਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਲੱਭਿਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਮੱਸਤ ਹਨ।
I was seeking and searching for Him throughout the three worlds; then, as Gurmukh, I sought and found Him.

ਸਤਗੁਰਿ

ਨੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ।

The True Guru has united me in Union, O Nanak, with that God. ||4||17||

मरणै

की चिंता नही जीवण की नही आस ॥

ਮਰਨ

ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜੀਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਤੰਮਨਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
I have no anxiety about dying, and no hope of living.

ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਹੀ ਲੇਖੈ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ॥

सरब जीआ प्रतिपालही लेखै सास गिरास ॥

ਤੂੰ

ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾ ਦੀ ਸਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਾ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
You are the Cherisher of all beings; You keep the account of our breaths and morsels of food.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੂ ਵਸਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥੧॥

गुरमुखि तू वसहि जिउ भावै तिउ निरजासि ॥१॥

ਤੂੰ ਰੱਬਾ ਆਪਦੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇ ਉਵੇ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

You abide within the Gurmukh. As it pleases You, You decide our allotment. ||1||

ਨੂੰ ਮਨਾਕੇ ਮਨ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
O my soul, chant the Name of the Lord; the mind will be pleased and appeased.

ਮਨ

ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲਾਗ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁਝਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਪਾ ਲੈਦੇ ਹਨ।

The raging fire within is extinguished; the Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause||
