नर गरभ कुंडल जब आछत उरध धिआन लिव लागा ॥

ਇਨਸਾਨ! ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਪੇਟ ਦੇ ਵੱਲ ਗਰਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੀ। ਤੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਸੀ।
O man, when you were coiled in the cradle of the womb, upside-down, you were absorbed in meditation.

पिंडि पद मद ना अहिनिसि एकु अगिआन सु नागा ॥

ਤੇਰੇ

ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁਤਬੇ ਦਾ ਗਰੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੈਂ।
You took no pride in your perishable body; night and day were all the same to you-you lived unknowing, in the silence of the void.

ਤਸੀਹੇ

ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਗਰਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ। ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਜਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਘਨੇਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ते दिन समलु कसट महा दुख अब चितु अधिक पसारिआ ॥

Remember the terrible pain and suffering of those days, now that you have spread out the net of your consciousness far and wide.

ਕੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ

ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿਤਾ। ||1||

Leaving the womb, you entered this mortal world; you have forgotten the Lord from your mind. ||1||

फिरि

पछुतावहिगा मूड़िआ तूं कवन कुमति भ्रमि लागा ॥

ਤੂੰ

ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪਸਚਾਤਾਪ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖਾ! ਕਿਹੜੀ ਮੰਦੀ ਬੁਧੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਾੜੀ ਕੰਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਫਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ?
Later, you will regret and repent-you fool! Why are you engrossed in evil-mindedness and skepticism?

, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਰਸਤਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

बिनोद चिंद रस लागा खिनु खिनु मोहि बिआपै ॥

ਬੱਚਾ

ਖੇਡ ਅਤੇ ਰਸਾ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਧੀਰੇ ਧੀਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਲਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
You play like a child, craving sweets; moment by moment, you become more entangled in emotional attachment.

ਰਸੁ ਮਿਸੁ ਮੇਧੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਚਾਖੀ ਤਉ ਪੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥

मिसु मेधु अम्रितु बिखु चाखी तउ पंच प्रगट संतापै ॥

ਸੁਆਦਲੇ

ਰਸ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਗਲ਼ਤ ਫਹਿਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਫਿਰ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Tasting good and bad, you eat nectar and then poison, and then the five passions appear and torture you.

तपु संजमु छोडि सुक्रित मति राम नामु न अराधिआ ॥

ਆਦਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ, ਤੱਪਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੀ ਰੁਚੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ

। ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।Abandoning meditation, penance and self-restraint, and the wisdom of good actions, you do not worship and adore the Lord's Name.

ਉਛਲਿਆ ਕਾਮੁ ਕਾਲ ਮਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਉ ਆਨਿ ਸਕਤਿ ਗਲਿ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ॥੨॥

उछलिआ

कामु काल मति लागी तउ आनि सकति गलि बांधिआ ॥२॥

ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਦਾ ਵੇਗ ਛੱਲਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਖ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਛਾਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵ ਵਿਕਾਂਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

तरुण

तेजु पर त्रिअ मुखु जोहहि सरु अपसरु न पछाणिआ ॥

ਜੁਆਨੀ

ਦੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਹੁਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਲੇ ਤੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
In the heat of youthful passion, you look with desire upon the faces of other men's wives; you do not distinguish between good and evil.

ਉਨਮਤ ਕਾਮਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਭੂਲੈ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥

Ounamath Kaam Mehaa Bikh Bhoolai Paap Punn N Pashhaaniaa ||

उनमत

कामि महा बिखु भूलै पापु पुंनु न पछानिआ ॥

ਕਾਂਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਸਤ, ਘੋਰ

ਪਾਪ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਦੀ ਤੇ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
Drunk with sexual desire and other great sins, you go astray, and do not distinguish between vice and virtue.

ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਰਬਿਆ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤੇ ਖੋਇਆ ॥

सुत

स्मपति देखि इहु मनु गरबिआ रामु रिदै ते खोइआ ॥

ਆਪਣੇ

ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Gazing upon your children and your property, your mind is proud and arrogant; you cast out the Lord from your heart.

ਅਵਰ ਮਰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਤੋਲੇ ਤਉ ਭਗ ਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਵਿਗੋਇਆ ॥੩॥

Avar Marath Maaeiaa Man Tholae Tho Bhag Mukh Janam Vigoeiaa ||3||

अवर

मरत माइआ मनु तोले तउ भग मुखि जनमु विगोइआ ॥३॥

ਹੋਰਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ,

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਨਮ ਗੁਆ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ||3||
When others die, you measure your own wealth in your mind; you waste your life in the pleasures of the mouth and sexual organs. ||3||

ਪੁੰਡਰ ਕੇਸ ਕੁਸਮ ਤੇ ਧਉਲੇ ਸਪਤ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

केस कुसम ते धउले सपत पाताल की बाणी ॥

ਉਸ

ਦੇ ਚਿਟੇ ਵਾਲ ਚੰਬੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸੁਫ਼ੈਦ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ ਐਨੀ ਮੱਧਮ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਹੇਠਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
Your hair is whiter than the jasmine flower, and your voice has grown feeble, as if it comes from the seventh underworld.

ਲੋਚਨ ਸ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਲ ਨਾਠੀ ਤਾ ਕਾਮੁ ਪਵਸਿ ਮਾਧਾਣੀ ॥

Lochan Sramehi Budhh Bal Naathee Thaa Kaam Pavas Maadhhaanee ||

लोचन

स्रमहि बुधि बल नाठी ता कामु पवसि माधाणी ॥

ਜਦ

ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਅੱਕਲ ਤੇ ਤਾਕਤ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਤਦ ਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਿੜਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Your eyes water, and your intellect and strength have left you; but still, your sexual desire churns and drives you on.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਭਈ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਵਸਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਮਲੁ ਕੁਮਲਾਣਾ ॥

Thaa Thae Bikhai Bhee Math Paavas Kaaeiaa Kamal Kumalaanaa ||

ता

ते बिखै भई मति पावसि काइआ कमलु कुमलाणा ॥

ਇਸ

ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸੁਕ ਸੜ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾ ਕੰਵਲ ਫੁਲ ਮੁਰਝਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
And so, your intellect has dried up through corruption, and the lotus flower of your body has wilted and withered.

ਅਵਗਤਿ ਬਾਣਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਤਉ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ॥੪॥

अवगति

बाणि छोडि म्रित मंडलि तउ पाछै पछुताणा ॥४॥

ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਮਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ

, ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਦਾ ਪਛਤਾਵਾਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ||4||

You have forsaken the Bani, the Word of the Immortal Lord, in this mortal world; in the end, you shall regret and repent. ||4||

ਨਿਕੁਟੀ ਦੇਹ ਦੇਖਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਾਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ॥

Nikuttee Dhaeh Dhaekh Dhhun Oupajai Maan Karath Nehee Boojhai ||

निकुटी

देह देखि धुनि उपजै मान करत नही बूझै ॥

ਛੋਟੀਆਂ

ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
Gazing upon the tiny bodies of your children, love has welled up within your heart; you are proud of them, but you do not understand.

ਲਾਲਚੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ॥

Laalach Karai Jeevan Padh Kaaran Lochan Kashhoo N Soojhai ||

लालचु

करै जीवन पद कारन लोचन कछू न सूझै ॥

ਭਾਵੇਂ

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਲੰਮੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
You long for the dignity of a long life, but your eyes can no longer see anything.

ਥਾਕਾ ਤੇਜੁ ਉਡਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਘਰਿ ਆਂਗਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਈ ॥

थाका

तेजु उडिआ मनु पंखी घरि आंगनि न सुखाई ॥

ਅੱਗ

ਬੁਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਭਉਰ ਪੰਛੀ ਉਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲੋਥ ਹੁਣ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਖਾਉਂਦੀ। ਚੰਗੀ ਨਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ।
Your light has gone out, and the bird of your mind has flown away; you are no longer welcome in your own home and courtyard.

ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਸੁਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
