ਜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਸੱਚ ਦਾ ਵਿਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ||8||18||19||

O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam, reflect deeply on the Truth; they practice only Truth. ||8||18||19||

The Word of the Shabad is Immaculate and Pure; the Bani of the Word is Pure.

ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਜ਼ਰੇ

-ਜ਼ਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੈ।

The Light which is pervading among all is Immaculate.

बाणी हरि सालाही जपि हरि निरमलु मैलु गवावणिआ ॥१॥

ਮੈ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸੱਚੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਸੱਚੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਉਤਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

So praise the Immaculate Word of the Lord's Bani; chanting the Immaculate Name of the Lord, all filth is washed away. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥

वारी जीउ वारी सुखदाता मंनि वसावणिआ ॥

ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਊਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਅੰਨਦ ਦੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Giver of peace within their minds.

The mind and body become Immaculate, and emotional attachment to Maya departs.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥

गुण गावै नित साचे के निरमल नादु वजावणिआ ॥२॥

ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੁੰਨਾਂ ਵੱਜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ||2||

Sing the Glorious Praises of the Immaculate True Lord forever, and the Immaculate Sound-current of the Naad shall vibrate within. ||2||

अम्रितु गुर ते पाइआ ॥

ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ

ਰਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

The Immaculate Ambrosial Nectar is obtained from the Guru.

ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਮੁਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

Vichahu Aap Muaa Thithhai Mohu N Maaeiaa ||

विचहु

आपु मुआ तिथै मोहु न माइआ ॥

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਕਾ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।

When selfishness and conceit are eradicated from within, then there is no attachment to Maya.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥

Niramal Giaan Dhhiaan Ath Niramal Niramal Baanee Mann Vasaavaniaa ||3||

निरमल

गिआनु धिआनु अति निरमलु निरमल बाणी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥३॥

ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਣ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕਰਕੇ

, ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ||3||

Immaculate is the spiritual wisdom, and utterly immaculate is the meditation, of those whose minds are filled with the Immaculate Bani of the Word. ||3||

ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

निरमलु सेवे सु निरमलु होवै ॥

ਜੋ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਪਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who serves the Immaculate Lord becomes immaculate.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਧੋਵੈ ॥

Houmai Mail Gur Sabadhae Dhhovai ||

हउमै

मैलु गुर सबदे धोवै ॥

ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the filth of egotism is washed away.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਵਾਜੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥

Niramal Vaajai Anehadh Dhhun Baanee Dhar Sachai Sobhaa Paavaniaa ||4||

निरमल

वाजै अनहद धुनि बाणी दरि सचै सोभा पावणिआ ॥४॥

ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੁੰਨਾਂ ਵੱਜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚੇ

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ||4||

The Immaculate Bani and the Unstruck Melody of the Sound-current vibrate, and in the True Court, honor is obtained. ||4||

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

ते सभ निरमल होवै ॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬੱਣਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Immaculate Lord, all become immaculate.

ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰੋਵੈ ॥

Niramal Manooaa Har Sabadh Parovai ||

निरमलु

मनूआ हरि सबदि परोवै ॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ।

Immaculate is the mind which weaves the Word of the Lord's Shabad into itself.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥

Niramal Naam Lagae Baddabhaagee Niramal Naam Suhaavaniaa ||5||

निरमल

नामि लगे बडभागी निरमलु नामि सुहावणिआ ॥५॥

ਜੀਵ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਦਾ ਹੈ।

Blessed and very fortunate are those who are committed to the Immaculate Name; through the Immaculate Name, they are blessed and beautified. ||5||

Immaculate is the one who is adorned with the Shabad.

नामि मनु तनु मोहै ॥

ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ

The Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, entices the mind and body.

ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥

Sach Naam Mal Kadhae N Laagai Mukh Oojal Sach Karaavaniaa ||6||

सचि

नामि मलु कदे न लागै मुखु ऊजलु सचु करावणिआ ॥६॥

ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੱਪਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਕਾਂਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੱਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੇਹਰੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

मैला है दूजै भाइ ॥

ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਖ਼ਚਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The mind is polluted by the love of duality.

ਮੈਲਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਮੈਲੈ ਥਾਇ ॥

Mailaa Choukaa Mailai Thhaae ||

मैला

चउका मैलै थाइ ॥

ਚੌਕਾ

-ਖਾਂਣਾਂ, ਰਹਿੱਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਬੈਠਣਾਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Filthy is that kitchen, and filthy is that dwelling;

ਮੈਲਾ ਖਾਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥

Mailaa Khaae Fir Mail Vadhhaaeae Manamukh Mail Dhukh Paavaniaa ||7||

मैला

खाइ फिरि मैलु वधाए मनमुख मैलु दुखु पावणिआ ॥७॥

ਨਾਂਮ

ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਮਾਂ ਕੇ, ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੇਹਿਤ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ||7||

Eating filth, the self-willed manmukhs become even more filthy. Because of their filth, they suffer in pain. ||7||

ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਭਿ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਬਾਏ ॥

मैले

निरमल सभि हुकमि सबाए ॥

ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ

ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਂਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੱਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ

The filthy, and the immaculate as well, are all subject to the Hukam of God's Command.

ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਏ ॥

Sae Niramal Jo Har Saachae Bhaaeae ||

से

निरमल जो हरि साचे भाए ॥

ਉਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ

ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।

They alone are immaculate, who are pleasing to the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੯॥੨੦॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੱਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦੇ।

The Lord of the Universe is radiant, and radiant are His soul-swans.

ਬਾਣੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਜੱਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਅੱਕਲ, ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Their minds and their speech are immaculate; they are my hope and ideal.

ਮਨਿ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਊਜਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥

ऊजल सदा मुख सोहहि अति ऊजल नामु धिआवणिआ ॥१॥

ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੱਪੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਜੋ ਦਿਨ-ਰਾਤ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣਾਂਉਂਦਾ ਹਨ। ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੱਪੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ||1|| ਰਹਾਉ ||

ਨਾਮੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ, ਸੁਣਾਂਉਂਦਾ ਹਨ।

कै भै ऊजल हउमै मलु जाए ॥

ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ

ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੰਕਾਂਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਂਣ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In the Fear of the Guru; you shall become radiant, and the filth of egotism shall depart.

ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥

सदा

अनंदि रहहि भगति करहि दिनु राती सुणि गोबिद गुण गावणिआ ॥२॥

ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਰੁਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸੱਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣ-ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ||2||

Remain in bliss forever, and perform devotional worship, day and night. Hear and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord Gobind. ||2||

ਮਨੂਆ ਨਾਚੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥

नाचै भगति द्रिड़ाए ॥

ਜੀਵ ਜਦੋਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

कै सबदि मनै मनु मिलाए ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ

ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਉਣ, ਸੁਣਾਂਉਂਣ , ਮੰਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

And through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, merge your mind with the Supreme Mind.

ਸਚਾ ਤਾਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥

तालु पूरे माइआ मोहु चुकाए सबदे निरति करावणिआ ॥३॥

ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਜਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਇੰਨਾਂ ਰੁਝ ਕੇ ਤਾਲ-ਮੇਲ ਬਣਾਂ ਲੈਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਉਹ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਉਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਮਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।||3||

Let your true and perfect tune be the subjugation of your love of Maya, and let yourself dance to the Shabad. ||3||

ਊਚਾ ਕੂਕੇ ਤਨਹਿ ਪਛਾੜੇ ॥

कूके तनहि पछाड़े ॥

ਜੋ

ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਅਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਕੁਰਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਜਮਕਾਲੇ ॥

Maaeiaa Mohi Johiaa Jamakaalae ||

माइआ

मोहि जोहिआ जमकाले ॥

ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਪੇਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਕਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਬੜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

But if they are emotionally attached to Maya, then the Messenger of Death shall hunt them down.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਇਸੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਨਚਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥

माइआ

मोहु इसु मनहि नचाए अंतरि कपटु दुखु पावणिआ ॥४॥

ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਕੇ ਐਸਾ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਟਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਛਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਰਦ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
