गुरु पूरा पाइआ वडभागी हरि मंत्रु दीआ मनु ठाढे ॥१॥
ਵੱਡੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਬਿਚਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ, ਸੀਤਲ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ||1||
I have found the Perfect Guru, through great good fortune; He has given me the Mantra of the Lord's Name, and my mind has become quiet and tranquil. ||1||

हमरै मसतकि दागु दगाना हम करज गुरू बहु साढे ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਲੰਕ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਂਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਟਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਠੀਕ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ॥
My forehead has been branded with His brand; I owe such a great debt to the Guru.
7156 ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਭਉ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਢੇ ॥੨॥

परउपकारु पुंनु बहु कीआ भउ दुतरु तारि पराढे ॥२॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬੁਹਤ ਤਰਸ-ਦਿਆ-ਲਾਭ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਂਰਾਂ, ਵਾਧੂ ਝਮੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ||2||
He has been so generous and kind to me; He has carried me across the treacherous and terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
7157 ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੂਰੇ ਗਾਢਨ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
Jin Ko Preeth Ridhai Har Naahee Thin Koorae Gaadtan Gaadtae ||
जिन कउ प्रीति रिदै हरि नाही तिन कूरे गाढन गाढे ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਲਾਂ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ॥
Those who do not have love for the Lord within their hearts, harbor only false intentions and goals.
7158 ਜਿਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਰਭਿ ਗਲਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
Jio Paanee Kaagadh Binas Jaath Hai Thio Manamukh Garabh Galaadtae ||3||
जिउ पाणी कागदु बिनसि जात है तिउ मनमुख गरभि गलाढे ॥३॥
ਜਿਵੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਬਿਝ ਕੇ, ਗਲ ਕੇ, ਆਪਦਾ ਬਜੂਦ ਗੁਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਵੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਦੀਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ, ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ||3||
As paper breaks down and dissolves in water, the self-willed manmukh wastes away in arrogant pride. ||3||
7159 ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਠਾਢੇ ॥
Ham Jaaniaa Kashhoo N Jaaneh Aagai Jio Har Raakhai Thio Thaadtae ||
हम जानिआ कछू न जानह आगै जिउ हरि राखै तिउ ठाढे ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅੱਕਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਬ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਣਦੇ। ਹੋਣਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੱਬ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣਾਂ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥
I know nothing, and I do not know the future; as the Lord keeps me, so do I stand.
7160 ਹਮ ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਤਰੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥

कामि करोधि नगरु बहु भरिआ मिलि साधू खंडल खंडा हे ॥
ਸਰੀਰ ਕਾਂਮ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with sexual desire and anger, which were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
7163 ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Poorab Likhath Likhae Gur Paaeiaa Man Har Liv Manddal Manddaa Hae ||1||
ਪਿਛਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ||1||
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
7164 ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਜੁਲੀ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Kar Saadhhoo Anjulee Punn Vaddaa Hae ||
करि साधू अंजुली पुंनु वडा हे ॥
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੁਕਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਗਿਆ। ਲਾਭ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ॥
Greet the Holy Saint with your palms pressed together; this is an act of great merit.
7165 ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

करि डंडउत पुनु वडा हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਦਿਲੋ ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡਕੇ, ਪਾਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹਾਜਰ ਹੋਈਏ, ਪੂਰੇ ਝੁਕ ਜਾਈਏ। ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bow down before Him; this is a virtuous action indeed. ||1||Pause||
7166 ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Saakath Har Ras Saadh N Jaaniaa Thin Anthar Houmai Kanddaa Hae ||
साकत हरि रस सादु न जानिआ तिन अंतरि हउमै कंडा हे ॥
ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਨਹੀ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਦਾ ਨਹੀ ਪੱਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘੁੰਮਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੈ॥
The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the taste of the Lord's sublime essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.
7167 ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਚੁਭੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Jio Jio Chalehi Chubhai Dhukh Paavehi Jamakaal Sehehi Sir Ddanddaa Hae ||2||
जिउ जिउ चलहि चुभै दुखु पावहि जमकालु सहहि सिरि डंडा हे ॥२॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ-ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ, ਕੰਮਾਂ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਮਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸੀ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਤ-ਜਮ ਕੋਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਭੁਗਤਣ ਲਈ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||2||
The more they walk away, the deeper it sticks into them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||
7168 ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Har Jan Har Har Naam Samaanae Dhukh Janam Maran Bhav Khanddaa Hae ||
हरि जन हरि हरि नामि समाणे दुखु जनम मरण भव खंडा हे ॥
ਜੋ ਬੰਦੇ-ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀ, ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੰਮਨ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ, ਖ਼ਤਰਾਂ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ॥
The humble servants of the Lord are absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated.
7169 ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Abinaasee Purakh Paaeiaa Paramaesar Bahu Sobh Khandd Brehamanddaa Hae ||3||
अबिनासी पुरखु पाइआ परमेसरु बहु सोभ खंड ब्रहमंडा हे ॥३॥
ਉਨਾਂ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਦਾ ਅਮਰ ਰਹਿੱਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੱਬ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||3||
They have obtained the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they obtain great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3||
7170 ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Ham Gareeb Masakeen Prabh Thaerae Har Raakh Raakh Vadd Vaddaa Hae ||
हम गरीब मसकीन प्रभ तेरे हरि राखु राखु वड वडा हे ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਨਿਰਧੰਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਾ ਲੈ, ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
I am poor and meek, God, but I am Yours! Save me, please save me, O Greatest of the Great.

ਸਤਿਗਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਹੀ ਅੰਨਦ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ||4||8||22||60||
जन नानक नामु अधारु टेक है हरि नामे ही सुखु मंडा हे ॥४॥८॥२२॥६०॥

इसु गड़ महि हरि राम राइ है किछु सादु न पावै धीठा ॥
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ, ਹਰੀ, ਰਾਮ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਲਈਏ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੁਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਕੇ, ਸੁਖ-ਖਸ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ॥
Within this body-fortress is the Lord, the Sovereign Lord King, but the stubborn ones do not find the taste.
7174 ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥
Har Dheen Dhaeiaal Anugrahu Keeaa Har Gur Sabadhee Chakh Ddeethaa ||1||
हरि दीन दइआलि अनुग्रहु कीआ हरि गुर सबदी चखि डीठा ॥१॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ, ਗਰੀਬਾ ਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾਂ ਕੇ, ਅੰਨਦ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ॥1॥
When the Lord, Merciful to the meek, showed His Mercy, I found and tasted it, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lovingly focused upon the Guru, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise has become sweet to me. ||1||Pause||

ਰੱਬ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੋਚਣ, ਸਮਝਣ, ਦੇਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥
The Lord, the Supreme Lord God, is Inaccessible and Unfathomable. Those who are committed to the True Guru, the Divine Intermediary, meet the Lord.
7177 ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖਾਨੇ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਆਗੈ ਆਣਿ ਪਰੀਠਾ ॥੨॥

जिन गुर बचन सुखाने हीअरै तिन आगै आणि परीठा ॥२॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ-ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬੀ ਗੁਣ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||2||
Those whose hearts are pleased with the Guru's Teachings - the Lord's Presence is revealed to them. ||2||
7178 ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੀਅਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਠਾ ॥
Manamukh Heearaa Ath Kathor Hai Thin Anthar Kaar Kareethaa ||
मनमुख हीअरा अति कठोरु है तिन अंतरि कार करीठा ॥
ਮਨ ਦੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਠੀਠ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਚਲਦੀ ਹੈ॥
The hearts of the self-willed manmukhs are hard and cruel; their inner beings are dark.
7179 ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਦੂਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਫੋਲਿ ਫੁਲੀਠਾ ॥੩॥
Biseear Ko Bahu Dhoodhh Peeaaeeai Bikh Nikasai Fol Fuleethaa ||3||
बिसीअर कउ बहु दूधु पीआईऐ बिखु निकसै फोलि फुलीठा ॥३॥
ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਆਈ ਜਾਈਏ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਉਗਲਦੀ ਹੈ||3||
Even if the poisonous snake is fed large amounts of milk, it will still yield only poison. ||3||
7180 ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਘਸਿ ਗਰੁੜੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੀਠਾ ॥

हरि प्रभ आनि मिलावहु गुरु साधू घसि गरुड़ु सबदु मुखि लीठा ॥
ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਗਰੁੜੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇ। ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਛੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਣ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗਰੜ ਦੀ ਬੂਟੀ ਖਾਂਣ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ॥
O Lord God, please unite me with the Holy Guru, so that I might joyfully grind and eat the Shabad.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ॥

The True Guru, the Giver, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. A very blessed and fortunate destiny is recorded upon my forehead. ||1||

ਵੱਡੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਬਿਚਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ, ਸੀਤਲ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ||1||
I have found the Perfect Guru, through great good fortune; He has given me the Mantra of the Lord's Name, and my mind has become quiet and tranquil. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਲੰਕ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਂਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਟਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਠੀਕ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ॥
My forehead has been branded with His brand; I owe such a great debt to the Guru.

He has been so generous and kind to me; He has carried me across the treacherous and terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
7157 ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੂਰੇ ਗਾਢਨ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
Jin Ko Preeth Ridhai Har Naahee Thin Koorae Gaadtan Gaadtae ||
जिन कउ प्रीति रिदै हरि नाही तिन कूरे गाढन गाढे ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਲਾਂ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ॥
Those who do not have love for the Lord within their hearts, harbor only false intentions and goals.
7158 ਜਿਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਰਭਿ ਗਲਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
Jio Paanee Kaagadh Binas Jaath Hai Thio Manamukh Garabh Galaadtae ||3||
जिउ पाणी कागदु बिनसि जात है तिउ मनमुख गरभि गलाढे ॥३॥
ਜਿਵੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਬਿਝ ਕੇ, ਗਲ ਕੇ, ਆਪਦਾ ਬਜੂਦ ਗੁਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਵੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਦੀਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ, ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ||3||
As paper breaks down and dissolves in water, the self-willed manmukh wastes away in arrogant pride. ||3||
7159 ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਠਾਢੇ ॥
Ham Jaaniaa Kashhoo N Jaaneh Aagai Jio Har Raakhai Thio Thaadtae ||
हम जानिआ कछू न जानह आगै जिउ हरि राखै तिउ ठाढे ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅੱਕਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਬ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਣਦੇ। ਹੋਣਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੱਬ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣਾਂ ਚਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥
I know nothing, and I do not know the future; as the Lord keeps me, so do I stand.
7160 ਹਮ ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਤਰੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥

कामि करोधि नगरु बहु भरिआ मिलि साधू खंडल खंडा हे ॥
ਸਰੀਰ ਕਾਂਮ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with sexual desire and anger, which were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
7163 ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Poorab Likhath Likhae Gur Paaeiaa Man Har Liv Manddal Manddaa Hae ||1||
ਪਿਛਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ||1||
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
7164 ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਜੁਲੀ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Kar Saadhhoo Anjulee Punn Vaddaa Hae ||
करि साधू अंजुली पुंनु वडा हे ॥
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੁਕਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਗਿਆ। ਲਾਭ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ॥
Greet the Holy Saint with your palms pressed together; this is an act of great merit.
7165 ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

करि डंडउत पुनु वडा हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਰੱਬ ਅੱਗੇ ਦਿਲੋ ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡਕੇ, ਪਾਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹਾਜਰ ਹੋਈਏ, ਪੂਰੇ ਝੁਕ ਜਾਈਏ। ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bow down before Him; this is a virtuous action indeed. ||1||Pause||
7166 ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥

साकत हरि रस सादु न जानिआ तिन अंतरि हउमै कंडा हे ॥
ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਨਹੀ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਨਦ ਦਾ ਨਹੀ ਪੱਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘੁੰਮਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੈ॥
The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the taste of the Lord's sublime essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.
7167 ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਚੁਭੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Jio Jio Chalehi Chubhai Dhukh Paavehi Jamakaal Sehehi Sir Ddanddaa Hae ||2||
जिउ जिउ चलहि चुभै दुखु पावहि जमकालु सहहि सिरि डंडा हे ॥२॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ-ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾੜੇ, ਕੰਮਾਂ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਮਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸੀ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਤ-ਜਮ ਕੋਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਭੁਗਤਣ ਲਈ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||2||
The more they walk away, the deeper it sticks into them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||
7168 ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Har Jan Har Har Naam Samaanae Dhukh Janam Maran Bhav Khanddaa Hae ||
हरि जन हरि हरि नामि समाणे दुखु जनम मरण भव खंडा हे ॥
ਜੋ ਬੰਦੇ-ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਂਮ ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀ, ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਂਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੰਮਨ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ, ਖ਼ਤਰਾਂ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ॥
The humble servants of the Lord are absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated.
7169 ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Abinaasee Purakh Paaeiaa Paramaesar Bahu Sobh Khandd Brehamanddaa Hae ||3||
अबिनासी पुरखु पाइआ परमेसरु बहु सोभ खंड ब्रहमंडा हे ॥३॥
ਉਨਾਂ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਦਾ ਅਮਰ ਰਹਿੱਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੱਬ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||3||
They have obtained the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they obtain great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3||
7170 ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
Ham Gareeb Masakeen Prabh Thaerae Har Raakh Raakh Vadd Vaddaa Hae ||
हम गरीब मसकीन प्रभ तेरे हरि राखु राखु वड वडा हे ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਨਿਰਧੰਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਾ ਲੈ, ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
I am poor and meek, God, but I am Yours! Save me, please save me, O Greatest of the Great.

इसु गड़ महि हरि राम राइ है किछु सादु न पावै धीठा ॥
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ, ਹਰੀ, ਰਾਮ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਲਈਏ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੁਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਕੇ, ਸੁਖ-ਖਸ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ॥
Within this body-fortress is the Lord, the Sovereign Lord King, but the stubborn ones do not find the taste.
7174 ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥

हरि दीन दइआलि अनुग्रहु कीआ हरि गुर सबदी चखि डीठा ॥१॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ, ਗਰੀਬਾ ਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾਂ ਕੇ, ਅੰਨਦ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ॥1॥
When the Lord, Merciful to the meek, showed His Mercy, I found and tasted it, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਅੰਨਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lovingly focused upon the Guru, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise has become sweet to me. ||1||Pause||
7176 ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਿ ਬਸੀਠਾ ॥

हरि अगमु अगोचरु पारब्रहमु है मिलि सतिगुर लागि बसीठा ॥
ਰੱਬ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੋਚਣ, ਸਮਝਣ, ਦੇਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥
The Lord, the Supreme Lord God, is Inaccessible and Unfathomable. Those who are committed to the True Guru, the Divine Intermediary, meet the Lord.
7177 ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖਾਨੇ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਆਗੈ ਆਣਿ ਪਰੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
Jin Gur Bachan Sukhaanae Heearai Thin Aagai Aan Pareethaa ||2||
जिन गुर बचन सुखाने हीअरै तिन आगै आणि परीठा ॥२॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ-ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬੀ ਗੁਣ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ||2||
Those whose hearts are pleased with the Guru's Teachings - the Lord's Presence is revealed to them. ||2||
7178 ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੀਅਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਠਾ ॥
Manamukh Heearaa Ath Kathor Hai Thin Anthar Kaar Kareethaa ||
मनमुख हीअरा अति कठोरु है तिन अंतरि कार करीठा ॥
ਮਨ ਦੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਠੀਠ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਚਲਦੀ ਹੈ॥
The hearts of the self-willed manmukhs are hard and cruel; their inner beings are dark.
7179 ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਦੂਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਫੋਲਿ ਫੁਲੀਠਾ ॥੩॥
Biseear Ko Bahu Dhoodhh Peeaaeeai Bikh Nikasai Fol Fuleethaa ||3||
बिसीअर कउ बहु दूधु पीआईऐ बिखु निकसै फोलि फुलीठा ॥३॥
ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਆਈ ਜਾਈਏ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਉਗਲਦੀ ਹੈ||3||
Even if the poisonous snake is fed large amounts of milk, it will still yield only poison. ||3||
7180 ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਘਸਿ ਗਰੁੜੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੀਠਾ ॥

हरि प्रभ आनि मिलावहु गुरु साधू घसि गरुड़ु सबदु मुखि लीठा ॥
ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਗਰੁੜੁ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇ। ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਛੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਣ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗਰੜ ਦੀ ਬੂਟੀ ਖਾਂਣ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ॥
O Lord God, please unite me with the Holy Guru, so that I might joyfully grind and eat the Shabad.
7181 ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੂਆ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੩॥੬੧॥

ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਲਾਡਲਾ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਚਾਕਰ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੌੜੈ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਬੱਣਾਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ||4||9||23||61||
Servant Nanak is the slave of the Guru; in the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, the bitter becomes sweet. ||4||9||23||61||

Har Har Arathh Sareer Ham Baechiaa Poorae Gur Kai Aagae ||
हरि हरि अरथि सरीरु हम बेचिआ पूरे गुर कै आगे ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ॥
For the sake of the Lord, Har, Har, I have sold my body to the Perfect Guru.
7184 ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਾਤੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ਸਭਾਗੇ ॥੧॥
Sathigur Dhaathai Naam Dhirraaeiaa Mukh Masathak Bhaag Sabhaagae ||1||
सतिगुर दातै नामु दिड़ाइआ मुखि मसतकि भाग सभागे ॥१॥
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਬਿਚਾਰਨ, ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮ ਬੱਣ ਗਏ, ਕਿਸਮੱਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ||1||
The True Guru, the Giver, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. A very blessed and fortunate destiny is recorded upon my forehead. ||1||
