16209      ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਮਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
Aisaa Guramath Ramath Sareeraa ||
ऐसा गुरमति रमतु सरीरा ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਐਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ  ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, realize that He is pervading in all bodies;
16210       ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Har Bhaj Maerae Man Gehir Ganbheeraa ||1|| Rehaao ||
हरि भजु मेरे मन गहिर ग्मभीरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਉਸ ਅਥਾਹ ਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰੀਏ  ॥
My soul, vibrate on the Profound, Unfathomable Lord. ||1||Pause||
16211     ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
Anath Tharang Bhagath Har Rangaa ||
अनत तरंग भगति हरि रंगा ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਠਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥
Loving devotion to the Lord brings endless waves of joy and delight.
16212      ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੂਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
Anadhin Soochae Har Gun Sangaa ||
अनदिनु सूचे हरि गुण संगा ॥
ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
One who dwells with the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day, is sanctified.
16213     ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Mithhiaa Janam Saakath Sansaaraa ||
मिथिआ जनमु साकत संसारा ॥
ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲੋ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
The birth into the world of the faithless cynic is totally useless.
16214  ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Raam Bhagath Jan Rehai Niraaraa ||2||
राम भगति जनु रहै निरारा ॥२॥
ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ||2||
The humble devotee of the Lord remains unattached. ||2||
16215     ਸੂਚੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
Soochee Kaaeiaa Har Gun Gaaeiaa ||
सूची काइआ हरि गुण गाइआ ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
 The body which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord is sanctified.
16216     ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Aatham Cheen Rehai Liv Laaeiaa ||
आतमु चीनि रहै लिव लाइआ ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
The soul remains conscious of the Lord, absorbed in His Love.
16217    ਆਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਹੀਰਾ ॥
Aadh Apaar Aparanpar Heeraa ||
आदि अपारु अपर्मपरु हीरा ॥
ਬੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੀਰੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹੈ ॥
The Lord is the Infinite Primal Being, beyond the beyond, the priceless jewel.
16218     ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੩॥
Laal Rathaa Maeraa Man Dhheeraa ||3||
लालि रता मेरा मनु धीरा ॥३॥
ਲਾਲ-ਸਮਾਨ ਅਮੋਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ||3||
My mind is totally content, imbued with my Beloved. ||3||
16219     ਕਥਨੀ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਮੂਏ ॥
Kathhanee Kehehi Kehehi Sae Mooeae ||
कथनी कहहि कहहि से मूए ॥
ਜੋ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ॥ 
 Those who speak and babble on and on, are truly dead.
16220    ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ॥
So Prabh Dhoor Naahee Prabh Thoon Hai ||
सो प्रभु दूरि नाही प्रभु तूं है ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
God is not far away - O God, You are right here.
16221      ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
Sabh Jag Dhaekhiaa Maaeiaa Shhaaeiaa ||
सभु जगु देखिआ माइआ छाइआ ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
I have seen that the whole world is engrossed in Maya.
16222     ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੭॥
Naanak Guramath Naam Dhhiaaeiaa ||4||17||
नानक गुरमति नामु धिआइआ ॥४॥१७॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ||4||17||
Nanak, through the Guru's Teachings, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||17||

16223 ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ॥
Aasaa Mehalaa 1 Panchapadhae ||
आसा महला १ पंचपदे ॥
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl, Panch-Padas ॥
16224 ਕੋਈ ਭੀਖਕੁ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਖਾਇ ॥
Koee Bheekhak Bheekhiaa Khaae ||
कोई भीखकु भीखिआ खाइ ॥
ਕੋਈ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
16225 ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Koee Raajaa Rehiaa Samaae ||
कोई राजा रहिआ समाइ ॥
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ ॥
One is a beggar, living on charity;Another is a king, absorbed in himself.
16226 ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਨੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਅਪਮਾਨੁ ॥

Kis Hee Maan Kisai Apamaan ||
किस ही मानु किसै अपमानु ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥ 
One receives honor, and another dishonor.
16227 ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰੇ ਧਰੇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Dtaahi Ousaarae Dhharae Dhhiaan ||
ढाहि उसारे धरे धिआनु ॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਵਿਉਤਾਂ, ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਬਣਾਂਉਂਦਾ, ਢਾਂਹਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ-ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
The Lord destroys and creates; He is enshrined in His meditation.
16228 ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Thujh Thae Vaddaa Naahee Koe ||
तुझ ते वडा नाही कोइ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਮਾਮਤਮਾਂ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥
There is no other as great as You.
16229 ਕਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
Kis Vaekhaalee Changaa Hoe ||1||
किसु वेखाली चंगा होइ ॥१॥
ਕਿਹਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਵਾਂ, ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ?||1||
So whom should I present to You? Who is good enough? ||1||
16230 ਮੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
Mai Thaan Naam Thaeraa Aadhhaar ||
मै तां नामु तेरा आधारु ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is my only Support.
16231 ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thoon Dhaathaa Karanehaar Karathaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
तूं दाता करणहारु करतारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਸਾਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਹਮੰਡ ਤੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈਂ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

You are the Great Giver, the Doer, the Creator. ||1||Pause||
16232 ਵਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ਵੀਗਾ ਜਾਉ ॥
Vaatt N Paavo Veegaa Jaao ||
वाट न पावउ वीगा जाउ ॥
ਭਗਵਾਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ। ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥
I have not walked on Your Path; I have followed the crooked path.
16233 ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
Dharageh Baisan Naahee Thhaao ||
दरगह बैसण नाही थाउ ॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਣੀ ॥ 
In the Court of the Lord, I find no place to sit.
16234 ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਬੰਧੁ ॥
Man Kaa Andhhulaa Maaeiaa Kaa Bandhh ||
मन का अंधुला माइआ का बंधु ॥
ਮਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਧੰਨ, ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥
I am mentally blind, in the bondage of Maya.
16235 ਖੀਨ ਖਰਾਬੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਕੰਧੁ ॥
Kheen Kharaab Hovai Nith Kandhh ||
खीन खराबु होवै नित कंधु ॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
The wall of my body is breaking down, wearing away, growing weaker.
16236 ਖਾਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਆਸ ॥
Khaan Jeevan Kee Bahuthee Aas ||
खाण जीवण की बहुती आस ॥
ਸਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਖਾਂਣ ਤੇ ਜੀਉਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥

You have such high hopes of eating and living
16237 ਲੇਖੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ॥੨॥
Laekhai Thaerai Saas Giraas ||2||
लेखै तेरै सास गिरास ॥२॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰ ਸਾਹ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਣ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਹੈ ||2||
Breaths and morsels of food are already counted! ||2||
16238 ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
Ahinis Andhhulae Dheepak Dhaee ||
अहिनिसि अंधुले दीपकु देइ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਹੈ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
Night and day they are blind please, bless them with Your Light.
16239 ਭਉਜਲ ਡੂਬਤ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Bhoujal Ddoobath Chinth Karaee ||
भउजल डूबत चिंत करेइ ॥
ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ 
They are drowning in the terrifying world-ocean, crying out in pain.
16240 ਕਹਹਿ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Kehehi Sunehi Jo Maanehi Naao ||
कहहि सुणहि जो मानहि नाउ ॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ, ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ ॥

I am a sacrifice to those who chant,
16241 ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
Ho Balihaarai Thaa Kai Jaao ||
हउ बलिहारै ता कै जाउ ॥
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥
Hear and believe in the Name.
16242 ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਕ ਕਹੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
Naanak Eaek Kehai Aradhaas ||
नानकु एक कहै अरदासि ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥

Sathigur Nanak utters this one prayer.
16243 ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
Jeeo Pindd Sabh Thaerai Paas ||3||
जीउ पिंडु सभु तेरै पासि ॥३॥
ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ ||3||
Soul and body, all belong to You, Lord. ||3||
16244 ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Jaan Thoon Dhaehi Japee Thaeraa Naao ||
जां तूं देहि जपी तेरा नाउ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤਾਂਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੋਲਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ ॥
When You bless me, I chant Your Name.

16245 ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਹੋਵੈ ਥਾਉ ॥
Dharageh Baisan Hovai Thhaao ||
दरगह बैसण होवै थाउ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੈਠਣ ਲਈ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
Thus I find my seat in the Court of the Lord.
16246 ਜਾਂ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Jaan Thudhh Bhaavai Thaa Dhuramath Jaae ||
जां तुधु भावै ता दुरमति जाइ ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
When it pleases You, evil-mindedness departs,
16247 ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥

Giaan Rathan Man Vasai Aae ||
गिआन रतनु मनि वसै आइ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੱਡਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਂਮ ਰਤਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
And the jewel of spiritual wisdom comes to dwell in the mind.
16248 ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
Nadhar Karae Thaa Sathigur Milai ||
नदरि करे ता सतिगुरु मिलै ॥
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one comes to meet the True Guru.

16249 ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥

Pranavath Naanak Bhavajal Tharai ||4||18||
प्रणवति नानकु भवजलु तरै ॥४॥१८॥

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ ॥

16251 ਦੁਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਧੇਨੁ ਪੰਖ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਕਾਮਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Dhudhh Bin Dhhaen Pankh Bin Pankhee Jal Bin Outhabhuj Kaam Naahee ||
दुध बिनु धेनु पंख बिनु पंखी जल बिनु उतभुज कामि नाही ॥
ਗਾਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ, ਕਿਸ ਕੰਮ? ਪੰਛੀ ਖੰਭ ਬਿੰਨ ਉਡ ਨਾਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਰੀਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ ॥
A cow without milk; a bird without wings; a garden without water - totally useless!
16252 ਕਿਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ਸਲਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਅੰਧੀ ਕੋਠੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
Kiaa Sulathaan Salaam Vihoonaa Andhhee Kothee Thaeraa Naam Naahee ||1||
किआ सुलतानु सलाम विहूणा अंधी कोठी तेरा नामु नाही ॥१॥
ਉਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਲਾਮ ਨ ਕਰੇ। ਉਹ ਮਨ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ||1|| 
What is an emperor, without respect? The chamber of the soul is so dark, without the Name of the Lord. ||1||

16253 ਕੀ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

की विसरहि दुखु बहुता लागै ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਤੇਰੇ ਭੁੱਲਣ ਨਾਲ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

How could I ever forget You? It would be so painful!
16254 ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

दुखु लागै तूं विसरु नाही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁੱਲਾ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
I would suffer such pain - no, I shall not forget You! ||1||Pause||
16255 ਅਖੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਜੀਭ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੰਨੀ ਪਵਣੁ ਨ ਵਾਜੈ ॥

Akhee Andhh Jeebh Ras Naahee Kannee Pavan N Vaajai ||
अखी अंधु जीभ रसु नाही कंनी पवणु न वाजै ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਮ ਨਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੀਏ, ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੀਏ, ਜੀਭ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣਾਂ-ਪੀਣਾਂ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ। ਜੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣੀਏ, ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦੀ ॥
The eyes grow blind, the tongue does not taste, and the ears do not hear any sound.
16256 ਚਰਣੀ ਚਲੈ ਪਜੂਤਾ ਆਗੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥

Charanee Chalai Pajoothaa Aagai Vin Saevaa Fal Laagae ||2||
चरणी चलै पजूता आगै विणु सेवा फल लागे ॥२॥
ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬੱਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ||2|| 
He walks on his feet only when supported by someone else; without serving the Lord, such are the fruits of life. ||2||
16257 ਅਖਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਬਾਗ ਭੁਇ ਚੋਖੀ ਸਿੰਚਿਤ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇਹੀ ॥
Akhar Birakh Baag Bhue Chokhee Sinchith Bhaao Karaehee ||
अखर बिरख बाग भुइ चोखी सिंचित भाउ करेही ॥
ਜੋ ਬੰਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਧ ਕੇ, ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਪੇੜ ਬੀਜਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਸਿੰਜਦੇ ਹਨ ॥
The Word is the tree; the garden of the heart is the farm; tend it, and irrigate it with the Lord's Love.
16258 ਸਭਨਾ ਫਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੩॥
Sabhanaa Fal Laagai Naam Eaeko Bin Karamaa Kaisae Laehee ||3||
सभना फलु लागै नामु एको बिनु करमा कैसे लेही ॥३॥
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕੋ ਰੰਗ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ||3|| 
All these trees bear the fruit of the Name of the One Lord; but without the karma of good actions, how can anyone obtain it? ||3||
16259  ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਫਲੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Jaethae Jeea Thaethae Sabh Thaerae Vin Saevaa Fal Kisai Naahee ||
जेते जीअ तेते सभि तेरे विणु सेवा फलु किसै नाही ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ॥
As many living beings are there are, they are all Yours. Without selfless service, no one obtains any reward.
16260 ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਰਹੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੪॥

Dhukh Sukh Bhaanaa Thaeraa Hovai Vin Naavai Jeeo Rehai Naahee ||4||
दुखु सुखु भाणा तेरा होवै विणु नावै जीउ रहै नाही ॥४॥
ਪੀੜਾਂ, ਮਸੀਬਤਾਂ, ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਅਡੋਲ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਚ ਸਕਦਾ ||4|| ||4||

Pain and pleasure come by Your Will; without the Name, the soul does not even exist. ||4||
16261 ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਜਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

Math Vich Maran Jeevan Hor Kaisaa Jaa Jeevaa Thaan Jugath Naahee ||
मति विचि मरणु जीवणु होरु कैसा जा जीवा तां जुगति नाही ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਕੇ, ਮਨ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਣਾਂ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਵਾਧੂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੰਮ, ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ । ਜੇ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ। ਤਾਂ ਜਿਉਣ ਦਾ ਚੱਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥
To die in the Teachings is to live. Otherwise, what is life? That is not the way.
